I'm sure it's a sandwich. Perhaps too wide cutouts, perhaps not enough depth, perhaps - direct light makes it flatter.
If we see more photos, we will be able to make more accurate assumptions. We will see in comparison with VSF, or better with GEN - we will understand how things are in reality.

Now wouldn’t it be amusing if TTF turned out to be HWF with another name to produce the Automatic PAM models? But I won’t suggest it yet because as you said, not deep enough cutouts can make it look wider and flatter.

So just got mine from Jtime and it’s a beautiful watch, strap leaves something to be desired, I’ll prolly find a gen on EBay or something but it’ll do for now. The only gripe I have with it is that the minute hand seems “bent” in an upward direction a bit, maybe it’s the optical illusion of the slightly curved crystal, but I don’t think my vsf 1025 has this problem. Hopefully a watchmaker can rectify.
The thickness is 16.5mm, exactly 1mm thicker than gen I believe

Yes, based on Steve's post here, the TTF is 16.4mm thick, while the GEN and the VSF are both 15.1. This was measured on 1314, but I'm fairly sure it's the same case and the only difference is the dial/hand color switch from black to white.
