It's not. If the guy who bought the gen dial does a side by side comparison, all we will see is a franken v rep comparison, and there is no guarantee that the dial is in fact genuine.
the gen dial doesn’t seems to be a 688.
688 dial is a sandwich, non recessed seconds sub dial. Insriptions are different too

I'm happy with mine, but wore it more before getting gen SOH2. It does have a lovely sunburst dial and after seeing gen, the rep actually looks better. I think rose gold fits it better than yellow - still this means that the rep isn't accurate. I would also say gen dial is more turquoise blue than rep.

I bored with regular leather or rubber strap I had on other pam. So why not create some difference look on this one = rubber + leather

To be honest, the rep leather strap is crap. No other words. I had to use it for some time and it started cracking within the first few times. I got myself Hirsch Navigator aligator strap with deployment and it's fantastic quality (got it during Christmas offer for £196). Also, I have another light brown custom made strap for tang buckle and I must say the watch goes very well with light brown. Will take a photo when I have some time.

Great , Thanks! I have the 688 in bound. Strap looks ok in pics, but probably just a POS in real life.
got my vsf pam688 today from puretime and i must say i am quite happy. it may not be accurate but it is beautiful. there really isnt a sunburst dial to be honest but i am happy none the less. great watch.

Do a search for 688 and you can read about other's experience and check out pictures they may have posted. Also comb through the panerai wristie thread, there should be several there.

I was just exchanging emails with Jennifer on the 688 but I just got in the 904 (and I absolutly love the dial) and the 42mm feels soooooo small for a Panerai that I’m afraid it won’t get enough wrist time. Especially now that I have the 904.
ETA: is anyone aware If any factories are making any blue dialed (or even grey dial) Luminor models at this time?
