+1 to wobbler : the price for double AR is 85€ + another 60€ for the lume (price from Fine-dd) + 20€ for shipping to Germany and back so that 170 euros for a great watch.

As soon as I can I 'll send it to Uwe.

Funny you should say that mate as that is exactly what one of PAM's is doing right now with Uwe. :D

Very nice watch. This is soooo going to be the next Pam I purchase. Perhaps, in the next run, the vendor will hear the critiques of this models flaws and create an "Ultimate 359" but until then, enjoy your new watch and as others have said alread: "I envy you".

Cheers, Marty

Well the lume is definitely worse than I thought it would be, after a minute exposre to a lamp...I think it's gonna need a relume. Otherwise though, a very nice piece!

Will it be possible to relume considering the lume color is the vintage brown color when it is uncharged?

Got my 359M and can't wear it

*************JUST VENTING - NOT ANGRY WITH PURETIME**************
I was excited to see my package from Puretime today at the PO - but alas, as with most ALL watches that come with leather bands - THIS ONE IS WAY TO SMALL FOR ME. I don't consider myself to be a big fat bas_ard - I measured my wrist with a tape measure and it is 8 1/4 inches circumference. Is that a giant fat wrist??? It fits my wife who is 5'4' 125 lbs and has a 6 inch wrist. Perhaps this is a ladies watch.

With one exception, all of my SS bands have been large enough, but when it comes to leather bands - forget it. I could slap an aftermarket band on it but this band is "special" in that it has the tan stitching to match the numbers and "Panerai" on the buckle.

I have to agree with the other posters - Lume is weak and the AR is non existent. But I wouldn't bitch if the watch fit.

So my first PAM is a bust - I have written Nikki and advised of the band problem to see if they have a larger band. Perhaps the SS band will fit, but that would be another $70+ shipping. UGH!. Again, I am not blaming Puretime - just wish they had some leather band options. I have a shadow box picture frame - perhaps I can put it in there and hang it on the wall. (see photo = PAM IN A BOX)

Am I the only one?

Excuse me whilst I cry.Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Aw that sucks, I feel for you. I heard similar issues with the "gen croc" strap where they were skimping on the material.

Buy another aftermarket strap, there are so many custom strap makers, maybe someone can tailor one for you.

I'm really sorry bear, that must get pretty frustrating. I think the average man wrist size is 6.75" to 7.5" (my guess anyways) but either way you do have bigger than average wrists.

You understand that any manufacturer would do the same thing.... as in make an average strap that fits the majority of people to make the majority of people happy.

I know your venting, im just giving a business pov on it.

Jack, you gots them "manly wrists". I am a strap tinkerer, and have a strap that I am not doing anything with, that has a very long tail. If you are CONUS, I can send it to you, and you can put the strap holes where you like sos you can wear your awesome 359. Lemme know if you are interested. Regards, Marty

PAM 359M AR Am I asking too much?

Now I am not an expert and have never purchased a watch which said it had an AR coating - but this one said it did. What do you all think - Does if have AR or not? JackTheBear

Image 2 - Same light - you can see the reflection of the stained glass bulb covers
Image 3 - LCD flat screen TV reflection - You can read the letters.

It probably has single AR coating not double.

You can still see reflections with single AR.

As a general rule I usually pay around $400 to $450 for a decent PAM, usually from DSN but I did buy a Fiddy from Vaccum for a similar price. I always pay top dollar because I want a decent watch "out the box.". As for the strap I always get one tailor made and spend anything from $80 to $150 for a decent bespoke strap. Roughly total price of $500 all in.

What I am trying to say is that the base price of this watch ($238) is very good. As myself and Inushuk have pointed out, you can pay extra for the relume and top quality AR, if the actual base watch as it is is good then with AR and relume you are looking at around $240's plus a strap for say $100 gives a rough price of $580, and this will be for a kick ass watch with superb AR, lume and a great strap. It does sound expensive but to get the watch to a standard that I am happy with I am willing to pay that kind of money, it all depends on how good the actual quality of the base watch is.

Oh I understand about the marketing and about the majority of people have a certain size this and that, however the so called "Big and Tall" clothing shops are doing well - Just hope I can get a longer band - maybe the SS one would be OK. I can slap any long band on it, but it won't have a Panerai buckle Cheers JTB

Jerome,
I hope you won't have sent the watch before the Gtg, unless you did and got it back...

Thanks for the info - I see your point - Guess I will have to change my mind set about replicas - Maybe like buy a vehicle without tires, engine, radio and etc. If you like the body - just go out and pay extra for the rest of it. Since I am new to the hobby - I have to come to terms with the fact that when I get a rep - forget about using it until I send it on another journey to be made right. Wouldn't it be nice to get one, in my case, this one, that I didn't have to pack it up and send it out for things that should have been done in the first place. You can buy a Timex in a drugstore with a lume that will light up a room for $30! TO be fair, Puretime offers options to make the watch more like the gen - but did not have those options for this one. I hope the SS band will fit me - but I sure wanted this leather with matching stitching to work. Perhaps on down the road I will be posting to a newbie the same info you just did. Thanks for your input - that is what makes RWI great

Numbers too close to bezel

Seems like this is a very special watch as it was made at the request of forum members and with their input... a first I hear... that alone (i.e. its history within the forums) may make it worth buying...

Someone did a comparison of the dials and it was found that the numerals on this one is a tad too close to the edge/bezel of the watch... that is what is holding me back....

Well I am totally bummed out tonite - going to crash. My take on this watch now that I have it in my hot little hands.
Pros - 1. Great strap - 115/75 mm - was too small for me, but really finished nice, none the less.
2. Movement looks real close to gen - rotor is smooth as silk. So far the watch has been right on time. Pretty good for mechanical movement.
3. Overall weight, feel and finish is great. Sapphire crystal is really nice.
Cons - 1. The lume is not as bright as it could have been - but after "nuking" it under a quartz lite - it glowed well enough for me - not a deal breaker for me.
2. If it has an AR coating - it doesn't work. Someone posted it must have a single AR coating and it will still reflect - I say, why bother? Not a deal breaker for me.
3. The numbers on the dial are too close to the edge of the bezel (I forgot the term, rahut or something like that. I think if I had a gen and a rep in my hands I could now tell immediately which was the rep by the placement of the numbers. At least I would question it. Fortunately I don't know a soul who has ever heard of Panerai - no joke. In fact, I never heard of it either until I got on RWI and saw how popular it was. You be the judge if this would be a deal breaker for you.

Which one is gen and which one is rep* - No prize given (hint gen is on the bottom)

I am hunting a watch strap to fit my HUGE, GIGANTIC, WHALE SIZED 8 1/4 inch wrist
Good nite all and keep on ticking

notice how the gen is still has a reflection on it as well. you can see the camera taking the picture.. even if it has AR... this is because of the domed sapphire... harder to tame that beast. the dome makes it more reflective i believe.

I not only got an email from Angus today, but one from Doris in QC - They are sending me the pin and spring - I may get to wear this watch after all - Also have ordered some PAM 24mm spring bars as even when I fix this thing - I don't think I am going to trust them. I just hate broke stuff - so I will glue the new pin in and put spring bars in. Going after leather Wed to make watch band. Cheers JTBear
