PAM 359 V2 Review

Hi all... so after promising to do so a couple of times on the thread i finally got the chance to take some pictures of the watch after the re-lume and AR.
If I had to do it again i would done just the AR and spent on an expensive strap.
Here are the pics... should have cleaned the watch before starting :facepalm:
For comparison here are some shots before the AR... its a lot more noticeable in person.

I just ordered the V3 version from Trustytime.
Andrew assures me the AR is quite good out of the box as is the lume, but won't really know until it's in my hands.
Have Goin in mind to do the Mods if required.

The ultimate version of this watch is the V3 or there is a V4? Which factory produces it? And which are the improvements (upgrades) over the V2?

Arabic markers closer to dial's edge
As you surely know, all rep versions of PAM 359 have the arabic markers closer to the dial's edge. That is due to A7750 movement, which has a little bigger distance from the center to the pin of subdial @9 than the Panerai Manifattura P.9000 ("B" distance in below pic). That displaces the d¡al numeral markers more close to the edge of the dial.
The difference is small and few noticeable and it is about 1mm in diameter ("A" distance in the pic)

The PAM 359, introduced in 2010 M-series as a few interesting features and a not so common look. Not many Panerai watches have all the numbers on the dial, except for the 3 in this case because that's where the date window is. The dial is based in the PAM 164 dial.
The watch has a Polished SS 1950 44mm case with Polished SS bezel, display caseback, Black sandwich dial with gold hands, seconds sub-dial @9 and date @3 without cyclops
The gen PAM359 has a black sandwich dial that appears to have a nice brownish hue under certain light. The color of the Luminova is beige as opposed to the green Luminova that we are used to from most Panerai watches. Beige colored Luminova seems to be in vogue now as it's also used for the 2009 Special edition Egiziano PAM 341, the new composite Radiomir PAM 339 and the new "Lo Scienziato Radiomir Tourbillon" PAM 348 and PAM 350.
An interesting detail is that this watch has the first all polished 1950's style case followed by the PAM 372. All other watches with this type of 1950 case are brushed, usually in combination with a polished steel bezel. Examples are the PAM 233, 270, 127, 312, 320 and so on. The crown guard with its Reg.TM.engraving however is brushed.
It is powered by the new Panerai P.9000 “Manifattura” movement. This is an automatic movement with a power reserve of three days. Therefore, for the rep it is impossible to be close to the gen with a display caseback.
Although above mentioned issue we can consider the PAM 359 reps M-series as First Class rep (but please bear in mind if you are looking for a big accuracy)

I will try to answer you clearly
PAM 359 with display caseback will not be never more accurate than PAM 164 with solid caseback, since the movement P.9000 which is fitted the 359 is not Asian copied.
Because the inaccurate movemnte dennounces immediately that the 359 is a rep. Despite this issue the PAM 359 is a First Class rep.
Currently the reps of PAM 164 from Noob and form H maker are considered to be upgraded to Super reps, because we don't have yet enough information about. But surely two or one of them will be upgraded in the near future.
Therefore, concerning accuracy and rep quality the PAM 164 rep is better than PAM 359.

One question for you, very close to ordering my first PAM but cant decide between 088 and 164. Which one is better concerning accuracy and rep quality?

The PAM088 I-series from H-factory is considered a super rep although the latest N-series Noob and H-Factory PAM 164 are very close to super rep status (with Noob being judged better than the H-factory by 9 to 1 odds). It is now dependent on which design you like better but either way, you will be getting a very good PAM. Please ask any further questions on this or other models outside of this thread as this is a PAM359 V2 discussion and we don't want to derail the thread.

Puretime has a helpful little post date at the bottom of each version -- the 2015 versions are the best (the same as what InTime has) and I always go V6F/KW on PAMs, but I'm sure there are some that disagree. Referencing ALE's PAM Guide will always put you on the right track ...
Wow! Op here. A blast from the past and a reminder how much I loved the watch and regretted selling it. Time to go find the current best version [emoji7]
