Oh. I mean, are you ragging on me because you're a rep watch God and I'm a noob so I don't know crap from good? I mean....I come from Timex walmart watches, and honestly I wanted something nice...ish to wear and it looked ok, I guess, to me. Are there any mods I can do to make it more authentic? Or just keep it and maybe dissect it later? Once I get it. Like, point of reference, you're around reps all the time, so you can tell the difference, I was comparing it to gens and I only noticed a few issues. I mean, unless you take a jewelers eye to it, would it still be...ok? I was learning all about swan neck, and the Y mod, and proper jewel reflections, and AR coating, and spring bar lengths, and fake swan screws, etc. I mean, no offense, but if people invest this much time in trying to make a rep look like a gen...why not buy a reduced price gen? *waits to get flogged*
I'm "ragging" on you because you were commenting on grease/scratches and on a rep as an issue (which shouldn't be as grease can be wiped off and scratches on casebacks are basically unheard off because up to the point that you get the watch, they are covered with protective plastic) and you mentioned you just recently rejected a watch from a dealer so I asked for pictures to see how critical you are of details. Unfortunately, instead of a nice PAM rep like what you were critiquing before, you show a 60$ low end rep which the only thing you saw wrong were the hand lume difference.
I personally don't buy have my reps modded. I just buy my reps out of the box straight from the TDs and enjoy them. As for your last question, some people like the experience of improving the rep to almost 99% of the gen, not because they couldn't afford the gen. In fact, some members here have pretty impressive gen collections.
