beautiful watch!
everything looks perfect but with the crown that does not close properly until the end, how can this issue be fixed?

are you sure for that? because many members have pointed this out as a small issue.
I also have a vrf with this problem
The crown shouldn't screw down completely flush, it should screw onto the gasket. If it's stopped metal on metal then it's probably going to let in water.
Correct, there should always be a slight gap but some earlier ZF were too big. Here is mine close up which I feel is as exactly as it should be.

in my gen gmt it closes until the end
I’ve just stripped down the whole watch this afternoon(lockdown boredom) and popped everything in the ultrasonic cleaner and stripped the bezel and re-polished the sharp edges off the bezel teeth and put everything back together.
One observation though was the insert does not have the ‘clean’ engraving on the back like usual. Have to say though that the numbers really do pop after a clean!
Have to compliment ZF on the machining of the parts though, excellent fit and finish to everything. A few pics below.

In which case your crown gaskets are probably shot from over tightening. Triplocks shouldn’t touch the case when screwed in whether it be Subs or GMT’s.

What did you use to sand the bezel edges, Micro-mesh w/ oil?I’ve just stripped down the whole watch this afternoon(lockdown boredom) and popped everything in the ultrasonic cleaner and stripped the bezel and re-polished the sharp edges off the bezel teeth and put everything back together.

Show us a pic of it then. You can look at many images and the crown should never touch the case. I’m not going by images by the way. I buy, restore and resell watches so I’ve handled many gens over the years but not taken any work during lockdown.

I was expecting a better shot of the gmt but it does look to have the Rolex gap.
The crown does look like it doesn’t screw in far enough on the vrf. It’s the only version I’ve not owned so can’t comment on it really.

i don’t have my gmt right now, but the crown close properly almost until the case.
vrf gap is big. so.. on ZF is not so bad?
