I'm gonna have to get both versions of this CrPO now. (SS#'s and orange #'s)

Man I want this watch so badly the only thing holding me back is that Damn 16mm thickness..

OP can you post a wristie from the side to see how thick it wears? Would be much appreciated..!

The link I posted from TT website has side photos. Doesn't look any thicker than the old PO 42mm's.

The back appears to be way off. This is a gen back:

The centre has a cap on it (not exposed like the rep) and also there is no gold in there, all gears are black.

It is a great improvement on the front but I will wait for Noob version first to see what the back looks like on that.

Nobody is going to rep the movement, which is what you have pointed out as wrong, so that's about as good as it will get. If you're hanging around for them to clone the actual Omega 8500 movement, you have an infinite wait ;)

I highly doubt there will be a Noob version, because factories rarely rep something already being done somewhere else. It makes no commercial sense.

Thanks for the heads up.. But I wanted to see how it lies on the wrist from the side ;)

16,5 mm is definitely thicker than the old PO..
If the difference is noticeable, only a wristie will show us :D

I'll take a photo specially for you on monday, when my 42mm arrives. My v.5 PO 42's measure 14mm from case back to crystal, and I have compared them to the photos and see very little difference. I'd be surprised if there was more than a millimetre in it.

Cheers guys, thanks for the compliments!

I took a side-by-side thickness comparison between the v5 PO and the new ceramic PO, you can see that the CrPO is significantly thicker.

I've mentioned the CrPO pearl before, I can't emphasize enough how ugly it is. Even compared to the v5 PO, the CrPO pearl is no match in terms of looks. I wish the factory would've used at least the same pearl as the v5 PO.

The clasp is really well made, it clicks nicely. This is how it looks like from behind, there are notches in the spring bar for easy removal.

I didn't know that there was such a thickness difference. Thanks a lot for the information and for these beautiful pictures that show the idfference perfectly.

I must say that with my chicken wrist, I prefer the flater one. And the PO 42 mm is on my wrist 70 % of the time.

Other, and main, point I'm embarrassed with is the window case back. For sure, there will never be a rep movement decorated like is the gen. For me, it's a flaw I cannot stand, much more important than happy feet or details of this kind. That's why I prefer to choose reps with stainless steel case backs.

I already have a black PO. Probably, I'll buy an orange one. But it will surely be the old version, not the ceramic one.

We all have different taste, different quest, and there is such a fabulous choice in the rep world... I love this hobby ! :)

I'm thinking of replacing the pearl with a gen, hopefully I can gen lucky and find a used gen PO or SMP insert from the bay or from the gen forums.

I'll then use the pearl from the gen insert and put it in the CrPO insert. That'll complete this rep, I'm quite happy with most of the details of this rep. :)

I don't think we can see a gen dial from Ofrei or from CousinsUK any time soon.

The beauty of the old v4/v5 PO is that it can be frankened and be made virtually indistinguishable from the gen, that will be nearly impossible to achieve with the new CrPO. I totally agree with this, that's why I'm keeping my old v5 PO.

Just like with collecting PAMs or rollies, most people ended up with few reps that look the same, i'm gonna have a few POs regardless. :D

Reading your reviews, I'm very impressed with this watch! Doesnt need to reapply AR coat and relume. But if u get the gen insert, would the lume of the pearl match the minute hand???

Luckily, Omega made the gen CrPO with a pearl with green lume, so putting a gen pearl would still be ok. It might not match exactly the minute hand lume, I'd still prefer to have a better looking pearl than the stock rep pearl.

IMO, the stock pearl is an easy giveaway that this is rep, you can see from 5 feet away. :D j/k
