^^ 10-4, that's good enough for me.

there was a thread on pg29 or 28 linked with comparison on v1 and v6, I could see a slight difference of coloration of hands and indices on the v6, but definitely not a deal breaker... For me at least.

My watchsmith doesn't give 2 shits if it's a rep or gen. And he does proper watches like AP and Lange and similar. He just won't touch Canal street type junk.

Oh how I wish they'd update the DW..and not f&#k up something else in the process..

Haha yeah but it probably wont happen. I kinda like the “wrong” date font, though.

Can’t wait to get mine. I’m waiting for the QC pics.

Nur-Uhr apologies for my lack of knowledge, but what exactly do you mean by: "Weak point is for both movements the “light“ rotor for winding". Does this movement struggle to self wind?

The movement itself is very good. A lot of high quality watches has this ETA2892 as base inside (eg IWC)
Also the first Co-Axial movement 2500 from Omega was based on the ETA2892.
The winding is good, but not so strong like an ETA2824/2836. In normal use, you would never recognise this. So do not matter, all fine. I only wanted to mention this ;)

I experienced something similar to your problem. The watch stopped randomly but would start again with a light tap. Very few stoppage in warm weather but gets worse in cold weather.
After taking it to a watchmaker he said the balance wheel tip was worn out... A worn out part in a new watch!
I ordered a balance wheel assembly from china for 6 bucks.
He serviced the watch and returned it to me while waiting for the part to arrive.
Interestingly enough the watch runs flawlessly and my watchmaker told me to just enjoy it and if it's start to cause problem again then replace the balance wheel.

interesting. is it the A2892 movement also, and same watch? the watchmaker told me he'll have an answer for me today. so I'm hoping it's good news. did you get the balance wheel assembly through your TD?

No, it is A2836.
I purchased the balance wheel thru taobao, that's china eCommerce site. There are plenty of agent websites that connect you to taobao, they'll order it for you and ship it to you at very nominal fee. Not every chinese vendors bother dealing with overseas customers, but they offer ridiculous prices.
The balance wheel assembly is 6 usd shipped. Just the wheel itself is like 3 usd.

sooo the watchmaker is quoting me $240 to do a service to get this watch working again. not cool as then in total this watch would cost me $870 after I had to cough up for releasing it from customs as well.
I have asked my TD to help with a new movement as the watchmaker is willing to swop it out for $35. I am not happy a chappy now, but hopefully the TD can come to the rescue.

Yeah that doesn't sound fun. For $240 it's probably not really worth it. You might then as well get a swiss eta that wouldn't cost much more.

I think your TD will probably ask you to send it back for repair which is both risky and expensive so not really appealing. I'm not sure we can expect TDs to send a replacement movement for free even though it might seem fair. I thank that the risk of a DOA movement might be considered part of the game unless you wanna send it back, but it sure sucks.

Are you sure he's not a diamond trader? 240$ would buy you a gen ETA installed and then some where I live.. FFS.. TD should pay his share, he's the one that sold you a lemon in the first place.

well, the are telling to swop in an ETA 2892 would be around $700! they only do brand new movements. yes, dealer did say I must send it back to them, but I do not want to take that risk. he said he would ask the factory if they would help. in the meantime I went to fetch the watch to have it with me while deciding the way forward. it hasn't stopped once since I put it on my wrist. so hopefully when the opened it, something got dislodged, I don't know. so far it's running like it should. hope it holds!

jpchub I'm sorry for you.

As for the price of an ETA 2892 I've been looking a little on ebay as I might wanna put one i my own. It looks like you may be able to find one for around $300 if you're lucky. https://bit.ly/2EUk5lK there one for $325 but it's in the US so not an option for myself due to taxes unless they can work around that. Anyway I hope your watch stays alive.

thank you fro that info. yeah I think for that price, I will probably rather have it serviced for $240 and pray it holds. but, so far it's been 4 hours or so without it stopping once. so I believe it might be sorted. only time will tell....
