Those things are so beefy!

Tried one on in an AD and it made my Panerai feel like a svelte dress watch in comparison

Very cool still

I love it! Regret selling my white V2...
Enjoy it and keep it for life mate. :)

Cheers, will do. There's just something about it that I love :)

I'm currently building up another V2 from parts. Just short of the clasp to complete it.

I'm still on the hunt for a white V2 or 1.5. I will have it someday...

Since no one has addressed if the helium escape valve works (or just decorative) I thought you guys might find this tidbit interesting.
I was poking around with my ploprof and noticed a groove on the inside of the case which seemed to go in the direction of the helium escape value. so i bent a paperclip and poked it into the groove and guess what, it pushes on the helium escape valve and it comes out! just like on the valve on the DSSDs. Obviously it's spring loaded to it just pops back in to seal the case once i release the pressure.

So there we go the helium escape valve is functional! (at least for the V2 since that's what mine is)

Not cool at all.......
Now imma have to seal mine up !

Thanks for the investigating !!

No no, its a functional He Valve. so it won't let water in but if the pressure inside the case is greater than the outside then it will let the gas out. thats how a helium escape valve is meant to function.

Yeah unless it gets a little pice of dirt or somthing trapped in there (arm hair maybe)
plus i dont trust the spring calibration of the rep
plus im paranoid...

ill seal mine , but i get what you are saying.

Yeah I know some who aren't fond of the He Valve on the DSSDs being function either. But on the ploprof it will be difficult to seal as the slit is quite narrow. hope it works out for you.
I have tested mine in a water pressure tester and it held up fine to 6BAR.

Oh ive had mine in the water too with no problems, but i always assumed there was no HEV.
Ive seen the slit in the case so i know exactly what you are referring to, i think a little bit of epoxy will do the trick.

I sealed the HEV on my DSSD too.

I dont do any bell diving, so for me its not gonna do anything for me.
In addition, even gen HEVs need to have the valve seals replaced periodically, so if the seal degrades, cause face it, reps dont get the attention that gens do, it will allow water ingress.

Nice!
Here is my V2 currently going through a complete relume.
I have already modded the datewheel to be satin.

Yup doing it myself, actually doing it right now lol.
Bezel insert all cleaned up ready for relume:

The most painstaking part so far is soaking each hour marker separately and cleaning old lume off them.

The bezel lock button seems OK for me, but you can try using dry lube (stuff for bikes) I use finish line Teflon dry lube on bracelets, and on the bezel of the ploprof and it works well. Bezel isn't as stiff now. Before it was near impossible to turn it one handed.

how did you remove the lume off the bezel insert?
and how did you make your date wheel have a satin finish?

The gen datewheel is high gloss. Lume can be removed with toothpaste and a cloth gently rubbing it away and then clean in warm water.

rep vs. gen DW for reference

So I finally got my second V2 back together :)

After cracking the bezel insert and then bending the bezel trying to remove it, I put what was left away until this week when I picked an entire bezel assembly off of ebay.

Now it was sold as a gen by a guy with a perfect feedback and who sells a lot of modern and vintage Omega parts, but for all I know it could be a V1 or V1.5. All I know is the lume is applied to the insert and as it was it didn't fit the V2 case as the retaining spring groove was in the wrong position.

Anyway after machining the retaining spring groove in the correct position it now fits and I have another V2 Ploprof for the watch box :)

The bezel

All fixtured up and grooving tool set ready for machining

Machining done and retaining spring in it's new groove

The finished watch wearing a leather strap that I picked with my other purchase of a V2 from M2M

That is some impressive work. Wish I had access to tools/machinery like that.
You could try comparing the lume. The V1/1.5 had white lume but it was still typical rep lume which wasn't very bright.
