Thought I'd point out some key points in the comparison.
Gen on the left, Noob on the right.

Start: Introducing the watch, going over the parts, price, and saying how the resale price keeps increasing.

4:11: Something about the central portion of the subdial hands; Gen has solid portions, Noob has hollow portions. Not visible on the hand. (Note: I can't quite see the difference here.)

4:37: The outer black part of the subdials; Gen is extremely black, Noob has a greyish tone. This might be easier to pick out. However, it's only visible when compared next to each other.

5:33: Chrono buttons are pretty much the same.

5:45: Drawing your attention to the top and bottom buttons of the Gen. The top appears slightly shorter and rougher, while the bottom is longer and smoother. If this was a fake watch, you might go "Ah, the quality of this watch sucks. Seems like the lengths aren't even the same." First, don't raise the Gen on a pedestal as perfection. Second, a lot of the problems that you nitpick on will also be present on Gens. He's not sure if this particular problem is universal or only on his watch.

6:38: Bezel numbers. There's a small difference in coloration. The Gen gives off a greyish feeling. The Noob appears to be whiter. (Note: so much for people saying that the Noob indicators are too dark and dull.)

7:46: If these differences are not pointed out and placed side by side, you won't be able to notice them.

8:07: Brushed outer portion of the bracelet. Gen is shinier and more refined, Noob is duller.

8:39: Gen is 12.3 mm thick, Noob is 12.8 mm. The 0.5 mm difference is meaningless. All other measurements are identical.

The last few minutes is about how most people nitpicking get it wrong, how you can't compare it to photos, etc.

12:16: Apart from the ice-blue Daytona, feel free to choose from all the other colors.

12:36: He's swapping the bracelet parts to check that they're exact fits.

14:28: If you don't want to wait in line for the Gen, you can get the Noob and save yourself 17,000 USD in one breath. 99% of people will agree that this is a good deal.

eta-phi 12:16 what is the comment on the ice-blue daytona? it implies that this is the color that is worse in terms of rep?

I have just received the most recent Noob Daytona (Ice blue dial / brown ceramic bezel) with the fully functioning 4130 clone movement. In appearance terms the watch looks outstanding in all respects. Other than the weight issue, on the wrist the watch feels about 95% of the original (which I also own) Sadly, I had to return the watch to my TD as the movement failed the first day. Essentially the watch would only work when the stopwatch function was activated. Once the reset button had been pressed the watch would stop when the small second had had rotated to the 35 second mark. Currently the watch is on its way back to my TD for repair or replacement.

rpsmithbarney thanks for the info, I'm surprised that the noob movement had an issue from day1!!!
did you take any comparison photos of the dial vs your gen before returning it?

Sorry but that site is a train wreck... hard to tell if the pushers are screwed all the way in or not?

(Hope that I'm wrong... hope they have fixed them)

Hey guys I just got these QC pics of the Noob. I've read through a ton of the pages in this thread and I RL'd the first one, but I'm feeling insecure on my abilities to correctly QC this one. Can you guys please help? Many thanks! Beyond excited to be a part of the community and looking forward to getting this beauty.

If you read tons of pages you should know that posting QC pics without a specific issue in mind is not allowed on this forum. We've all been in your position, but if you don't find anything wrong after looking carefully then you should accept the watch. Why would you want somebody else to point out something that you would not even care about otherwise? Accept it and enjoy it
