I would also put the watch inside a ziplock bag before removing to catch the spring if it flies out.

I know how to remove the bezel assembly but wondering what's the best way to remove just the insert

Is there a good youtube for the proper way to remove the insert? I looked using "noob remove insert" but there is not much.

I saw "use hairdrier and then poke something under at the 6 oclock position and then use toothpick to go around" on the forums.

Any suggestions so I dont crack the insert? Am I overthinking this?

Also, do I need a new adhesive ring afterwards?

Why would it be "even more GEN"?

Spongebob has been testing his process for a while trying to perfect it using his own equipment, and has since modified it because of issues with the noob engraving colour reacting with the platinum, he also bevels the cut outs. Is a high street jeweller going to do any of this?

It may be cheaper but let's see an insert Smoke has had plated before we start saying it's going to be better than Steve's

Agreed. Smoke might have a good low cost paint solution but no way will it be as good as steves true platinum plating

I have the same question. Does it have the golden peachy color in bright light? That along with the deep black in the ceramic is the real kicker. There's something about the blackness with the gen insert. I don't see it with the V6,V6s, or V7 noob inserts.

Sponge mod is definitely legit though especially with the smoothing out of the cuts.

Smoke is actually looking at proper platinum plating too.

My point is Steve has put a lot of hours and research into this, he said himself he's destroyed more than 10 inserts so well over $500 of inserts plus all the platinum. I'm not confident it's going to be as easy as asking a jeweller to plate an insert with platinum, maybe it is, but let's wait and see before telling members that Smokes mod will be more gen without anything to base this on.

This is true.i have no idea how well the average high Street jeweler can do this.and ive not said im going to even offer this mod i was just looking into it.plus you dont need me,you can go to your jewllers and get them to do it if you want a super cheap plate option.so we have 3 choices my mod ,sponge mod and jeweller mod.someone should try it out as its so cheap if it looks like shit them you have only wasted 1 insert and 35 pounds.i dont even have an insert to try
