Thanks for that Ale. Probably no less than I deserve. But it MIGHT solve some problems.

There'd be no tells would there? And, OK, I'D KNOW it was a horrible quartz but there again I'd ALWAYS know it was a rep at 5% cost of a gen even if it had a ticking movement.

Just grease the crown tube threads and be a little careful when you screw it in.
First you turn it anti-clockwise while pushing it gently until you feel.the thread catch up then you screw it in clockwise.
I do that with every watch with screw in crown and never had any issue ;)

Even with metal in ceramic? None of my watches that have screw-down crowns are manual wind. Unscrewing is something that I only have to do once a month or less. I don't even like doing it to my gens!

There is no "metal in ceramic". The thread inside the crown is made of steel.

Sorry, I must be having a blonde moment.

Isn't the crown tube then seated in ceramic?

From my underatanding the crown has a ceramic shell, but inside the mechanism that screws into the tube is made of steel, thus both threads are made of steel.

Hey, thanks for the patient reply.

OK, steel crown, steel crown shaft. Steel crown shaft tube..

Steel crown shaft tube mounted in ceramic.

There are at least two instances out there, one where the crown tube came away from the ceramic body with the crown shaft tube still embedded into the crown and another badly bodged TD repair where the crown shaft tube was epoxyed or super glued back into the case.

However, I guess the problem is not THAT common.

No, not that common.

Anyway, now that I think about it, this watch has a DLC stainless steel crown so all the discussion above does not apply :)
