The hole on oem hour hand looks bigger. Are you taking the oem hands to your watchsmith to do the mod, @vpn00786?

yeah he should have the hands monday and hopefully he can figure out a way to make it work. Looking at your picture above, seems like the gen and rep minute hand has the right size hole, but the hour hand hole seems bigger on the gen.

For the gen, there are no difference from looking at it & if you know where to look. Anyway, Rep only have 5001 (which some TD called them 5007). ZF v2 should be the best but once I see the YL v4, the movement plate is upgraded the same as ZF v2. Now the difference only on the dial and hands. I would say very close between these v2 and v4 now.

From my observations, ZF dial mostly have crooked 10 and 11 but YL doesn't have. The dial colour of ZF is closer to Gen compare to previous YL edition, I've not seen YL v4 dial yet so cannot confirm it had changed much.

Summary, if u like it. Buy the latest version either from ZF or YL depends on your budget and liking. Good luck and welcome to the IWC family.

Thanks again for your amazing detailed comp for this watch. My question is I see you have one pic of new ylf v4. its hard to tell but I'm almost positive it is not exactly the same plate as zf v2. it looks like some of the gears are in slightly differant position making the faux gears not overlap and therefore looking much more accurate.. which td currently carries this v4? Id love to see some more pics of v4 movement

Yup, you are correct. YL now seems better plate, still need to see the dial. Don't know which TD carry YL but you can ask, I think Puretime can get them. This picture is from Chinese dealer so it won't be long or maybe TD already can get hold of them.

Seems like it. Thermal, were you able to confirm if the dial numerals are glued on?
Anyone can shed some light if moving the numerals around would be an easy fix?

The numerals are pinned onto the dial then a drop of glue on the back. Misalignment probably comes from the holes in the dial not drilled in exactly the correct position

You can see on the gen they do a fine grind at each pin on the back to make it flat, the rep they have a little dob of glue at each number. You could open the hole up very slightly but its only about 0.1/0.2mm at a guess. You could also break one pin off so you can rotate it around the other.
A very delicate operation and very risky.
I did try this on an old 3714 dial to see if it would work on a 3714 dial I wanted to mod but gave up as I could see it was going to end up worse!
Not saying someone else couldn't do it though.

I know. It might not be worth the effort. I'm just getting tired of rejecting QC pics with crooked numerals.
I was hoping to mod a laureus version myself since sourcing a gen dial would be close to impossible.

Hard to believe that the ZF factory has not perfected a way of applying the numerals correctly or at least employing workers who do not have astigmatism!!!

Sounds strange to mee as well. But apparently that seems to be a matter of fact, unfortunately. I had to reject three Spitfires because of crooked "11"s.
