Hi, I bought a NTTD VSF V4. I cannot say that I'm impressed. The bezel has quite a big play and the crystal seems a bit milky.

The biggest problem come from the rotor that is too noisy. Are all the rotor of the VSF so noisy that you can hear them when you move your wrist?

I have a V4 in the post at the moment coming from Lucy TD. I will update my findings on the TD page as a review. This is the latest build from VS Factory & as such only comes with the Nato strap. Will see if any of your findings are still present.

The shape of the display crystal does not help with reflections & can look milky in some light.

Rotor noise has also been reported on the genuine version also. Reports are it may be due to the Titanium case & hollow Aluminum bezel. I have read about some people having the rotor bearing oiled to reduce the noise a bit but it may cause the rotor to be less efficient

** If anyone has a VSF V4 Steel bracelet available for this please PM me **

Hi,

I have to say I agree with you statements.

Finally got my VSF V4 NTTD. The rotor noise was loud made it sound really cheap.
It was however a very easy fix - back turns off 90 degrees anti-clockwise then apply 'tiny' amount of correct oil/lube to rotor bearings and now quiet.

My 'issue', now the rotor noise is sorted, is that the watch face is to me dull and lacklustre and lacks presence.
The pics of V4 NTTD online show a brighter watch face with lighter coloured indices.
The bezel also has more backplay than I would like.
Also, I do not know whether it is a batch thing or what but the Lume is not as blue as online pics show and certainly not as bright.
I tried on a gen in a watch dealers here in the South West and the watch face seemed to have not sure of right words but it was clearer to view it.
The VSF in dull light indoors is not great.

Just for comparison -
I have the Phylida P5000 movement NTTD Homage (on the left) which was £130 which have to say is much better made. The watch face is brighter, the lume is green not blue but again not that good and fades away quickly.
The bezel is far and away better, tighter movement better sound with zero backplay more like my gen planet ocean.

Overall guess I was expecting better from VSF - heyho small hill of beans I guess.

Seeing a lot of complaints about the quality of the VAF v4. Is the ORF any better or would it be recommended to give them all a wide berth at the minute?

Hi

Some people seem very happy with their VSF and ORF NTTD watches.

I had an ORF V2 first bought from Chazingtime before this VSF version.
The QC pics of the ORF V2 must have been taken in really bright light as it was the same as the VSF V4, as in dull face and darker lume markers, than the gen and worse lume than the VSF.
That ORF watch lasted three days. The bezel was off centre and hard to turn part of way around then the watch stopped working altogether.
It was returned at my expense, took months to get back to them and now been ghosted on the repair so that's $450 dollars gone.

I will sell on the VSF V4 as it does not live up to my expectations, maybe others would be fine with it?

I think that compared to other reps they have a ways to go yet.

Have you opened a help desk ticket for the chanzingtime return?

For those that have a VSF v3, would you upgrade to v4 for improvements in the case/dial/movement (forgo the strap consideration)?

Or say hold…

Perhaps if you consider Madeleine… the daughter of SPECTRE survives at the end of NTTD 🧐. Go for it😎.

Mr. White would crack a dry smile from the grave. Blofeld and Bond both out of the game and his line can ascend.

Can anyone answer what versions just from the dial and bezel? Numerals seem thicker on the one on nato

I have a VSF V4 I got from another member last Christmas. It's a pre-raid piece, so maybe better than what is out now? How is the whole VSF raid thing going anyway? Are they back in full swing or what?

Anyway, the rotor in mine makes a bit of noise, say, compared to a VSF sub, but it's barely noticeable and only on very quiet environments. I have gens (Orient, Zeppelin and Junkers) which are noisier.

About the milky dial, that's how it's supposed to look. This watch was designed to evoke a vintage military watch, hence the tropical dial and domed crystal without double AR. I really don't get people complaining about "the replica being too dull", that only means it's a good replica, because the gen looks dull too.

The lume is a bit of a let down. Kinda week and fades quickly. I read somewhere that it is possible to relume it. Has anyone tried it without loosing the vintage yellowish tone?

Was out and about wearing my rep. I passed by an AD and they had the NTTD on display by the window. Took a good look at it and looked at the rep around my wrist. The rep is almost indistinguishable. Only difference I noticed immediately was how the domed crystal was much more domed/rounded on the gen.

To my best understanding, it is more than just decorated, they used a cage like holder to house the A2824 onto it. Swapping and servicing the movement is a PITA.
Correct me if I am wrong
Indeed correct. Have V3 that I bought on here and upon realizing that the shroud was needed to house the 2824, I improvised by removing it, cutting the fake balance bridge off (this allows you to access the adjustment screw on the 2824,)
sanded down the edges so the rotor wouldn't snag,
Air puffing the case and the shroud and then reassembled the watch.

Now it's running at +0/-2sd dial up and +1sd dial down. Sure, the deco is now mutilated, but it's a closed case back so no worry.

One thing I can’t unsee now is the size of the dial markers. Smaller on the rep by a fraction.
