When the chronograph is running my watch runs like a dog, lost 10 seconds in like an hour. Funnily enough the chronograph seconds hand looked fine but the 6 o clock dial was 10 seconds behind on 1 hour.

Without the chronograph running I seem to be getting the more acceptable +9s day

Did I get a dud?
I'm happy with the asthetics but I'm very disappointed with the watch overall

Also anyone have a watchmaker in Sydney Australia they could recommend that I could give my noob V2 Daytona to fix up. Needs to be

I don’t want to be a party pooper and Iam not a ridiculous about expectations but theat dial is clearly misaligned and yes you can see it on the wrist and yes it will probably bug you . look closely at the center pic of the Noob - look at the gap between the indicies and the Rehaut at the 12 o’clock position and compare it with the gap at the 6 o’clock position. There is very little / no gap at 12 and a reasonable gap at 6. Notice it is even all around on both gen and ARF. On the wrist it just seems as though something is not right / uneven about dial.

i look at a lot of these watches. I am in Beijing right now and looked at 8 of them yesterday with my dealer - I was ready to buy 4 but did not buy any because all of them had small flaws. I do not know why but Noob dials continue to be assembled seriously off center - not of all of the time - it probably at least half the time - And I would say that even the ones without a serious off center problem have some degree of off centeredness. A couple of pages ya someone posted a Noob and ARF dial next to each other - there was a much larger gap between the indicies and the edge of the dial on the ARF vs the Noob . I suspect that the larger dial gives the assembler more play to get it right on the ARF vs practically no room for error or adjustment on the Noob.

The other issues I ran into this trip were 4 of the 8 had SEL issues. Nothing horrible - and Iam not a SEL Nazi - but these 4 either had - 1. A small but noticeable (width of a hair) gap between the SEL and the case (not the mugs but the case) and 2. SEL that would wiggle very slightly (+/- 0.5-1mm) up and down (as opposed to horizontally between lugs). The SEL should have no movement of play at all in it . This is a new issue - because the V1 SEL was not all that bad.

Finally - Noob continues to have varying degrees of dim lettering on the ceramic bezel. We want it to bright white!

None of the watches had all three issues but all of them had at least one. I was disappointed because even some of the $200 rep Daytona’s had better overall cosmetics. I feel that these 4130 movements are going into average / below average cases. You would think that they would elevate their cosmetic game on the watches they put the 4130 into but it appears not to be the case. She you pay $700 for the watch you would like to get a nice example.

That was indeed one of my initial concerns however after having multiple eyes over it perhaps it’s down to the angle of the photo. Either way I have already given my TD the green light so there’s not much that can be done anymore eitherway apart from me messing around with it or getting parts to send to a watchmaker...

At the end of the day, it is a rep and if Rolex didn’t artifically restrict their supply I may have gone gen...

Also, not sure if you’re able to share but who’s your source in China? I travel there from time to time so it may be worthwhile although I assume pricing is broadly in line with TDs.

Mookata The pic is poor, but I'd accept that, it's better than your average Noob Daytona. Ask for a high res frontal shot, they'll send you one.

He’s in Beijing near the Pearl Mart. PM me and I will give you his contact info. Good guy. Visiting him is like the opening scene in Get Smart (if you remember that old show). Yes $688 dollars is the price - even in China and paying cash Yuan. Because I buy a lot from him I get 3% discount but nothing like half off you would hope for. The only real advantage is you get to select from what he has available and get the pick of the litter. He has a sale on the old A7750 Daytona’s now - Under $300 but they’re so fat!

You are aware that the picture is tilted on the one you’re claiming the dials are not lined up at? Also please link to a better looking $200 daytona rep. I’d buy that straight away.

I’m really surprised to hear that you can just walk into a store in Beijing and they have boxes full of Rolex reps ready for inspection. Afterall selling reps are illegal even in China.

Obviously you’ve never been to China or for that matter Hong Kong Taiwan Korea Singapore etc. There are no stores with signs out front that say “Fake Watches!” - that said you can’t walk through the science and tech shopping mall in Shangahai or the Pearl Mart in Beijing or any number of other venues without being accosted non stop by sellers asking if “you look for Rolex?” . For the most part most of these people deal in low to mid grade sub $200 watches. I find there are 4 grades - for under $80 you get cheap cheap with quartz. For $120 you get Japanese movement - for 200 you get fame Swiss mocks t for 350-400 you get genuine ETA movement and for $100 more you get the same in 904L. The Daytona’s w/4130 are always more - even with 7750 used to be $500. Noob V1 sold for $600and Noob V2 w/ 904L is $700.

The Kicker is that once you get above the 150 level it seems most of the cosmetics are roughly the same - even on the $700 V2 with 904L.

Regarding the dial misalignment being only camera angle - unfortunately you’re mistaken- most if not all V1 and V2 Daytona’s have varying degrees of off centered dials - Trust me - I look at ALOT of these - and that unfortunately is the reality - it’s just a question of how much you feel you can live with for a $700 watch

Also it’s not boxes full of reps - it’s rooms full of then - literally thousands - Breitling, AP, Patek etc ..... and if watches aren’t your thing you can also buy Designer shoes - handbags - electronics - just about any high end consumer product in the states you can buy a high quality replica of same for pennies on dollar - I have a closet full of actual silk Tommy Bahama Hawaiian shirts at 1/7th what you’ll pay for same article in states.

I hate to break it to you but China has been ripping off brands, music and intellectual property non stop for decades

And by the way the picture I was referencing was in post #389 - with Gen Noob and ARF dials - side by side by side straight on closeup shot of the dial - if you can’t see the off centered alignment of the Noob - well - I don’t know what to tell you.

Sorry for all the typos - small iPhone. Also does anyone have this problem - I try to post pics - I hit the photo icon and up pops a window titled “image properties” but with no obvious way to grab pics from your photo library and a small notice that says “you cannot upload attachments in this channel”. I’ve tried it on various iPads iPhones and MacPro computer and in all of these I am restricted. I even downloaded the RWI app and tried doing from there but to no avail. Do you need to pay a subscription fee to RWI in order to have image posting privileges? I have ALOT of photos to share that I think many here would find worthwhile. I travel to China all the time and take pics of hundreds of reps that people here are dying to see. Just wondering if anyone else has this particular problem posting photos - have no idea what Iam do I g wrong or if the rep gods are just lining up against me!

As someone else has said, use Tapatalk - I have no issues uploading with that. Picr.me works as long as you copy the embedding code, (starts with a bb in [])

Shame that there's scepticism towards your comments when from my perspective they are bang on.

Also on the noob dials, I have to agree. The reason many are seeing the 'sold out' sign is, from the information I've been given, not because they aren't available but because they aren't even passing the dealers 'in hand' test.

I got a really nice noob 116500 off Sead, sels are so good I may even just use the ARF clasp. However I couldn't accept the dial or bezel for the reasons I've made very clear on my analysis thread. The case is proportionally fine, but the finish is lacklustre so the case will be going off for a full refinish as well. As you say, they have invested a lot of money in the movement and have bodged together an inconsistent, visually adequate watch to try and get their ROI on the movement as quickly as possible

I really wish you would keep your replies together instead of spamming the thread with multiple posts.

You quote one thing and refer to something else. However, I bow in the dust for your expertise. You are clearly the expert here with your 30+ Rolex rep collection and constant trips to your personal dealer in Beijing where you get to hold and compare multiple noob v2 watches as well as lots of ARF watches as well as better looking $200 watches and compare them against each other and do statistical analysis.

I'm gonna let this go now. Have a nice day.

I get where you're coming from, I'll mediate here and say that you're both right and entitled to your opinions. I don't think he was deliberately trying to rub you up the wrong way and appear the 'expert' Earlier, now cheaper, 116520's to be honest did have better dials than the current noob one, I think that was what he was referring to, rather than the watch being 'better looking generally' The BP, for example, has a far better dial than the newest noob.

Most of us don't have the luxury of trips to China and developing relationships with personal dealers. We've seen before instances where this is possible, and I know from my own experience that accessibility to supposedly prohibited items in China is, whilst not straightforward or cost-effective, possible (for investigative reasons, and not watches!)

However for those of us that can't dedicate the time that's where we rely on the TD's to offer a service that not only does this for us - ie filters out the dross, but does so economically. Having used Tony, Toro, Sead, Mary, Mr Timezone and Precious Time over the years, I honestly believe they all fulfil this requirement and any rare mistakes have been genuine oversights rather than deliberate attempts to chuck rubbish at us. After all, they wouldn't use QC photos if that was their objective.

First said, this is not a QC-pic of me. Correct me please if I’m wrong thinking this is a updated v2 dial ?
