I'm appalled by the pricing, as usual I mention this on an other forum and got the usual 'ah but' responses. And the previous one was $228 with croc effect strap, $288 with 'croc' strap. This one is $328 with croc effect strap and a whopping $378 with the croc. I think they've taken it a bit too far. All they've done provided the basic stuff that should've been on the previous version...i.e. dw/bluish AR tint/superlume(which the gen doesn't have much of!).

Have we all collectively gone nuts or something? They are shoving the price of a basic closed caseback 3 hander up $100 in a short space of time. Granted it does look good but they are takin the pisss lately with pricing.

Yeah the price is a joke. I would rather buy a Steinhart with Swiss movement for 100 bucks more.

It's all about value. The XVI is a sublime watch, and having one done to this level, to some it's worth it. Definitely for those that would rather have fewer watches but closer to superrep quality vs. tons of basic models and 21j cheapies. I put in my order, though I wouldn't expect everyone to want one.

If you'd rather have a Steinhart, well, I'll try not to judge.

At the end of the day a Steinhart has value, has QC, has a warranty, has a Swiss movement. The Mark XVI has very little.

Very nice watch, but getting very expensive with a far from well tested Asian movement.

Hmmm. Seems like you could say that about nearly any rep. Reps aren't for everyone. As for what's a "too high" price, that's pretty subjective. In the end, the thing will be success in the market, or not. I suppose that will be the acid test.

I like the new Mark XVI but I am not gonna buy it for that ridiculous price.

I am sure we will see soon some dealer offering it for a more decent price.

Hello,

We all mentioned the prices are rising!?

Why dont we, as forum, starts a community buy? Through unity huge discount ;-), someone, whose reliable and willing could take the money from all interested members, so we dont have the typical I'm in people and tHan they are not ;-). Could save maybe 10-20 %? Or more if some members living in the neighborhood, postal fees could be reduced...?!

Any IWC experts have any opinions on this watch?

From briefly comparing it to the gen pics online, I am finding it hard noticing any flaws myself. Perhaps it really is '1:1'?

EDIT: Here is a photo courtesy of 'Toto' over on RG. In my opinion there is not much difference at all.

Date wheel, minutes markers and AR are hardly 1:1.
Nice rep though.

I think the date wheel and minute markers are "1:1" but I agree with you about the AR. I guess the genuine version doesn't have great AR itself though so it might not be much of an issue.

I've owned MK XVI. Sold it a few months ago. Without having looked at this Rep. judging from the pictures only, I can honestly say this rep is amazingly close to the real thing. But then again, all that goes out the window when someone actually holds the two or look at the movement, and that goes without saying.

can when I get the watch. I hope they come out with a bracelet for this soon.
The printing of the ''8'' is crisp and clear not like in the video on PT site
