It could be brass not bronze.

Concerning quantity the problem is the same
Obvously brass is cheaper, but we need only abot 100 gr of material.

The difference:
BRASS - Copper+Zinc alloy softer than bronze (generaly speaking)
BRONZE- Copper+Tin alloy

Magrette had a problem with there 'Bronze' watches and made a recall for those who wanted.
Here is what can be read on there website:

'The results of this test show that also our alloy is not the CuSn8 (Copper/Tin) compound referred to as “bronzeâ€, but an alloy of CuZn (Copper/Zinc). This means our cases are made from high quality “brassâ€, the same material that, for example saxophones and trumpets are made of.'

'This does not mean that your watch is defective, however it means that the case material is different from what we unknowingly advertised.'

'You specifically wanted a CuSn8 bronze case, and you still want a CuSn8 bronze case. We do understand: we believed we sold you one! In this option, you send us back the watch without strap attached (we pay shipping OR send you a dark chocolate brown strap free of charge) and we will exchange it for a Bronze, certified and tested CuSn8 case'

So I guess for people who are not in the business it will be hard to tell....

Brass is OK for metal instruments due to its features about "vibration" and maleability in order to build a complex instrument (bronze is more "stiff")
But for watches the Bronze is the correct choice is a more "noble" metal and its "patina" has more "noble" character. Moreover it is harder (usually)

This is such a beautiful watch. And for the price, it's even more amazing! What I'm curious about is the difference between this watch and all the other Pam's that sell for $300+? Is this a fantasy, or was this really manufactured once?

Those have been around for a while, avalaible from Helenarou, and Watcheden has a few reps also using this coating.
But Jackson's are different, don't forget he's a trusted dealer, meaning that lies like that can have him loose his status.

I would not call him a liar - but then again he does not claim the case is solid bronze...

Look at this picture and tell me it is not the same finish.
Manbu, Daji, Jackson..all source the same parts 90% of the time.

Hi friends
Looking this last watch (althought it is not the same, see the inscription MARINA MILITARE) I have serious doubts.
I think the best is a consult to Jackson directly before purchase.

Seen that:

That looks like it's PVD and advertized as by Getat.

Even if it is PVD, you could go at it with a scotchbrite and a cape cod and produce some nice weathered effects for very little money.

This is PVD FOR SURE !!!!

I know but to me the color looks very different than the one sold by Jackson.
It's more like the Brown PVD used on reps (386, etc...) which have been on the market for quite a while.

Um, has anyone actually asked Jackson if it's real bronze?
If it is I'm in for one.
