The more I look, the less I think the DP dial is an upgrade over the stock APSF. The sundial rings may be slightly more prominent than the stock APSF dial, but it's still not gen-like. The gen silver border is more prominent because the subdial is slightly more recessed, thus more of the silver border is observed. Repping that is not as simple as making the silver border wider, although on a 2-D monitor that might seem acceptable. Neither the stock APSF or DP dials match the gen in this respect. Even then, without zooming in 5x on a photo, it's very hard to spot with the naked eye.

On the other hand, the sundial numerals on the DP dial are more faint than both the gen and APSF. You can actually see the concentric circles from the subdial through the numeral paint on the DP dial. The gen and APSF numeral paint is thicker. Can you notice this on the wrist? If your eyes are sharp enough to notice the silver border difference, then maybe you'll also notice the numeral paint difference.

FWIW, I don't think the sundial ring is that noticeable in real life, and certainly by itself wouldn't merit a $300 dial upgrade. Here's a comparison of my APSF 2624 ceramic with gen ceramic. You be the judge, but it looks pretty good to me.
I completely agree. I think this watch looks good on the wrist already, and won’t look better with the DP dial. It would look better with a gen dial, but factoring in the high asking prices for gen blue dials, the stock APS dial looks great to me.

Here is a comparison of gen (right), APS stock (top left) and DP (bottom left). APS looks OK to me, but of course, YMMV. Looking at the three dials like this makes me think the sub ring issue is not as bad as people make it out to be. It may be more or less of an issue depending on the lighting and the angle of the watch.

Hi. Do the links screw out? No right? They’re pressed in? Pins?
Take a look at this:

Would take stock over DP. This is one that I have been eyeing but haven't pulled the trigger. Looking for the right dial / case color. I really want RG, but the black ceramic is great too. Blue is one color I've always steered from due to it always being off, but it looks better on this model.

Spoke too soon. Balance wheel wasn’t spinning after I put it back together. Took it apart again and got it spinning. Finally, a screw fell out. Rotor spins but not freely. Seems to “spring” back in place. And crown is super gritty now.
That'll be 50 bucks for Reap's replica diagnosis

My gut says you should service it. All 4401 clones so far have reported butter smooth almost dead silent winding so a gritty crown and the screw issues means I'd take precautions.

UGH! Reminds me of the GMT II I got in. Stopped on me twice. Brand new, I opened the caseback and found a screw. Put it back together, stopped again. After pulling the top bridge off and the balance wheel, AH, there lies another screw against the pallet for in the escapement. Very frustrating, yet satisfying to fix. Needless to say I tightened ever damn screw before closing it back up. Works like a charm! Hopefully yours will do the same!

I hate gritty crowns!!!!!

Both of my Le Mans Daytonas sound like metal springs popping when I'm screwing the crown down. WTF!

Notice in the 3rd pic I’m holding the watch up and the rotor doesn’t “fall” to the bottom. There’s resistance.

Is it freely moving laying flat?

Did you tighten the rotors screws too tight?
