Hi everyone, I tried to assemble my 16233 build with the new case. Unfortunately, the cutout for the 2nd movement holder screw is missing. When I try to turn the movement around and fit in the 2nd screw, the second hand stops moving. It looks like the hands aee pushing against the clark crystal.

Any suggestions?

Back in the old days there was a crystal that could be used to convert a 16000 DJ from plastic to sapphire. The crystal was concave on the inside to allow for the hands to move w/o being obstructed. Don't know if those crystals are still available.
Plan B would be to get a taller gasket but that might entail a taller bezel also.

Are you sure we are talking about same case from this thread?
Cause the "new aftermarket DJ case" is especially for 160xx models = Plexi model.
You are reffering to a 16233 model = sapphire model, which is different, cause of gasket/crystal (domed plexi versus flat sapphire) and also case shape geometry.

Only for clarification.

Glad you mentioned that, I was going to ask about a sapphire crystal. I have a few vintage models already with plexi, but was interested in one or two sapphire models.

Pls check the gasket high. You need the higher gasket and other (162xx) bezel.

Nothing beats those old GEN DJ dials!!

Looks very cool your build.
Would be great to share some specs, especially with this new case and the GEN dial in it :)
this is just the finished project, I already showed earlier in this post:

VS3135
Gen 16013 dial
Swiss hands
Beige date disc
Gen flat case back gasket
Gen Tube
Gen Crown
18k platted bezel
raffles 10k bracelet

Just stumbled on this... I am completely in awe of this work, I know absolutely nothing about this process, Imkind of get the 3D printer thing but how does this translate to a metal object? How is the polishing done? I don't suppose you have a link to some information on this process on line do you? I truly am fascinated at how this is accomplished!

I have obviously missed this thread. Congratulations on this beautiful result. The special characteristic of the DJ 36 is its flat case, and you really did a great job with it. Good success!

The case has arrived.

It is still in transit with the bezel and dial that I purchased, so I temporarily assembled it with the parts I have on hand.

I think the external shape of the case is very good.

The VS3135 fits in without any problem.

Since there is only one notch for a screw to fix the movement, I installed the screw while turning the movement.

My case has a Raffles tube and crown installed for now because the Athaya tube did not fit.

Oh man, as always. It is a real nice read-up from you. Always so nice results (also our 5513/14060) and now this stunning looking Datejust.
This piece is so timeless. Well made Sir!!
I am not familiar with DJs.

Is this dial appropriate for the age?
