I just got my 1312 with the 23J and it's great! I always loved the looks of the 44mm 1950 over the 1940 but hated the thickness. I love how much thinner this 1312 is, measuring 15.7mm, with about half the thickness difference removed from the case and the other half from the caseback. Here it is compared to my 18.1mm thick 312 and 441, which have been replaced and are now for sale. Look at how much lower the lugs sit. I can't wait for Panerai to come out with more of these thinner 1950's, especially a ceramic cased one.

You are right on both counts. I'd be asking to see another one, or just have theCG replaced as the rest looks ok.

haha I accepted it anyway. shall wait and see how it looks in person, cos the rest of the watch looked good. hopefully the flaws aren't so obvious in the hand/on the wrist

Hi guys,

I got new 1312 ZF yesterday and I would like to share my thoughts.
When you unpack the box the watches looks really nice.

These my first Luminor 1950 and I really like it after pam111 and Pam 029A. It is absolutely different feeling to wear it on wrist.
However I have to say some issues I found there:
- CG pin is not flat with upper CG surface
- CG lever is loose and freely move in CG in minimaly 4 mm and once open by itselves
- crown doesn't keep its position pushed to hours and minute set up, it move back to date shift position and it is allmost impossible to set up time
- and the worst thing is dáte didn't shift automaticaly!
Detail of CG

I am thinking to send back to TD. Those issues cannot be checked from QC pics.
I got some help from @chris3007 in past with different problem, but I don't know if in this case.
I missed some simillar inputs maybe....
Thank you for your advices.

Hmmm no that doesnt sound right at all. The pin issue does seem to be endemic on this model from the QC pics we have seen to date and definitely looks like a "tell". Depending on which other watch you have the CG lever may feel loose (my 1950's feel looser than the luminor cases - both rep and gen) but it should never open by itself.

With what you have said with the movement it defenitrly sounds like a trip back to the TD is in order. Im no expert but that sounds like a keyless issue and maybe something else. You didnt quit set the date between 10pm and 2am did you?

Well, DSN PAM029A really hard to open lever, Noob PAM111 and 372 is nice to open, stays firmly on its closed position. KW616 is easy to open but it sits. This 1312 is really free within 4 mm as I said and there is no real resistance against opening.
I am not sure, if I first time to try set up date between 10PM and 2AM, really not sure. If yes, is it possible to make some repair?
Thanks.

Guys, date wheel move correctly at midnight itself. Maybe movement exercise helps - some manual wind, time and correct way date set up.
What stays, is the crown issue, it doesn't keep its position pushed to hours and minute set up and it move back still to date shift position.

Is it good idea to brush little bit the CG areas, where it sits on case? I would like to make the inner space of CG little smaller for CG lever move closer to crown, to keep it firmly on closed place. Or is there any other option?

Personally i'd probably unscrew the crown guard and remove it and then check how it functions. If it can come all the way out, or, it still doesnt sit properly it could be either

A) The stem isnt seated in the keyless properly (easy-ish fix)

B) Your keyless needs to be rebuilt - watchsmith or sending it back time.

I should also clarify im no watchsmith.... just a hobbyist with too many watches. So take the above as an opinion

First step would be removing the GC and see how the crown works without the CG.
If the crown works without the CG is the stem just to long.

Well, CG removed and the crown sits only in date position, but when I tried to pull crown more to H/M set up, it move itself back to date position.
What I found else, the case back was loosen. I could turn aprox 360 the CB to tight just by hand. The second thing I found, the CG pin could be pressed in to CG and now is allmost in the same level as upper CG surface. Those are just two more points.
ZF completing seems not to be precise.
