Display case backs have got to be the best defence the big boys have against replication. The cost of accurately copying the appearance of a movement like the 8500 puts out of reach of the factories. Not that it bothers me in the slightest. Most plebs wouldn't know the difference between a Miyota and a Toyota!!!
True but what happens when you come across someone who knows watches and calls you on it, now you look like a fool. One reason id be hesitant to buy such a well known watch. That being said the jacked up pearl placement is enough for me not to buy the watch, and the display back showing a completely wrong movement is the second. I think some of the PO 2500 replicas in which people have replaced the pearl and bezel insert are still the best bet as they could probably pass even to those who know the watch.
