It's normal to oversell or overbook a pre-order. Of the 300 orders placed, many won't pay. Othesr that pay may want refunds. You need to take enough orders to ensure that you can ship the 200 units promised. It's possible that a couple of people get f-cked, but (more likely) Angus has more than 200 to sell. A little faux exclusivity never hurt a buying bandwagon. The guy definitely knows what he's doing. He had us to the point where we are begging him to take our $310 dollars for a product that's not even close to being finished if we want to be honest. I bought this as a birthday present for myself (February) since I know there isn't a snowball's chance in hell he is going to ship it before Christmas.

Thanks for the explanation, my scepticism was misplaced. I thought that you could only place an order by paying and therefore he'd only have accepted 200 orders. I understand now.

I didn't even try for the friday pre-order, too much drama with order conformation and payment received or not.
I like the watch a lot, gues I'll have to wait for 2nd batch and also to se wristies of what the finished product looks like.

I definitely got caught up in the hype of this watch and ordered one for myself and one for a friend. I'm envious of my friend because he has no interest in forums, so will never know the minor flaws this v1 will likely have. Ignorance is bliss.

I'm sure there will be improvements in v2 and it will happen quite fast. Clasp engravings and crystal haven't even been seen yet since we heard about those problems. Bezel edge may take a while to improve. Pearl might be a fast improvement. Minute hand seems too wide, but an homage set might be a good replacement.

Looks like the limited run might not be so limited. Lol. But I'm sure you all knew that.

I actually like this watch a lot, so I don't feel like I was duped into buying it like I was with the montauk highway.

Next run of pre-order will be next Monday, I am giving a week for everyone to pay. And the maker said he might get more movement this week and if yes then I will have another few hundreds for you to order :)

It's not like it was ever intended for a limited run, just restricted due to the engraved movement.

I know it was never originally intended, but when Angus announced on Wednesday that there would only be 200 on Friday, it sure became a limited run for a few days.

Besides, this is good news for everyone who missed it. I'm still not sure if it's still going to be a higher quality seagull.

LOL...rep runs are only limited by the makers ability to source parts to meet buyer demands. There are no limited production rep runs...like that BS Montauk highway and 57th street shit. Anyone actually believe those were limited edition reps???? These things do go out of stock fast though. So I got one on order while the getting was good.

I'd still be interested in this watch, but would rather wait for the actual watch rather than a pre-order. Heck even a catch and release I'd go for.

Probably a wise decision. I have been waiting more than a year for this particular rep to launch, so pre-ordering was a no brainer for me. This is an exception, not the rule for me. I am never an early adopter...let other people be the Guinea pigs and put their money at risk.

How much is ever really at risk though? There will always be people who missed out on the pre-order who will want a V1 (whatever the flaws might be). You could probably sell 95% of a watch as a C&R for almost full value. The only thing you've lost is perhaps postage costs and of course the money not sitting in your account for a while.

When were these available for pre order, Monday? I wish Angus would have sent an email to subscribers of puretime about it.

He's doing another pre-order because the first one sold out in a matter of mere days.

go to the other forum or just go to his website to find out the details.

There isn't any conspiracy about the 300 original orders. Many guys, including, myself, placed multiple orders before we got one to go though successfully. Each order attempt generated an order number. I had to place 4 orders and some guys were reporting 8 and more. So those 300 orders might have only been 150 watches that were actually paid for.
