Again, I would have liked to see this have been brought to my attention first instead of blatantly trying to make me look bad publicly.
-To be honest, all he did was show others your work and voice some displeasure with it. I'm sure that you would have wanted to have this discussed privately, I wouldn't want others to see or hear about this result either if it were me. The fact is that it was sent to the OP in this condition by someone who modded it hoping that it would be acceptable.
But hey, I guess I think differently than the OP and like to deal with my problems "man to man" before going off on a public rant. This is not how I can conduct business. BUT, I know that customer is always right.
-Insulting the OP and not taking personal responsibility is the wrong attitude. This is no better than doing what you are accusing the OP of doing in the first place. In fact, this sounds more like Robert (T4D) than a professional.
I was never privy to the fact that the OP was unhappy with my work nor given the opportunity to make him happy afterwards.
-It's surprising that you thought it looked good, but that is probably based on work you've done in the past so the comparison might be fair.
When I mentioned that piece appeared to be a "shadow" I was away form my bench and responding to his email via iPhone and made that conclusion by the pic supplied.
-Hmmmm
This is still no excuse as I should have paid a little more attention to everything before shipping it out. I apologize for that.
-Should have been the first sentence but at least it's a start
OP, I will be contacting you directly to figure out what needs to be done in order to make sure the results are closer to what you expected, as I wish I would have had to chance to do in the first place.
-You did, when you had it.
I know there are those who oppose threads like this, but to be fair, the OP did nothing unfair. There are countless threads exuding praise for dealers and modders, and it's just as important that the whole story is told when things like this happen. One of the greatest mistakes a dealer or modder can make is attacking the individual instead of using the opportunity as a way to show a professional attitude and respect for the customer. The easy thing to do is vent and belittle the customer in an effort to discredit them, the hard thing to do is set an example.
I don't have anything against PBdad, in fact I quite like him. Some of the mods I've seen aren't things that I would have done but that isn't any different than a custom auto shop painting a car lime green and pink and holding them accountable for the customers taste.
PBdad is an excellent communicator and is someone I would highly recommend for creative mods, and I do feel that this is just one of those learning experiences that will only make him better in the end.
