So, I assume I'm the rooter? Where I come from that's actually quite the compliment. ;)

Yeah, it took me a couple of weeks in Australia before I got the hang of why everybody were comparing themselves with wombats on their t-shirts... :D

Having said that, the other day I was on a train and the person next to me was wearing dirty jeans, muddy boots and an old shirt and jacket. Yet, he was wearing a beatiful Patek, and it was real. I know it's real because I recognised the guy: he's a billionaire venture capital investor. Looks can be deceptive, or at least not always a reliable indicator of spending power. And in any case, people should just wear whatever they like!

Ahh, yes, but if it's a real 40k watch you can wear it with whatever you like!
Some of my most well to do clients wear clothes that look like they came from the op shop, and YM's (you don't go down the marina with your good watches after all. Pataks don't like salt, ask another of my clients who found out the hard way :) ).

I was out on a friend's boat in the Florida Keys a couple of years ago and he stuck his hand in the water with a gen YM on, I asked if the saltwater was corrosive... To further demonstrate the famous Rolex durability, he stuck his hand in the water and shook it around vigorously for a solid minute... and yes, you guessed it, pulled up a wrist wearing little more than a tan line.

We figure it was in about 450 feet of water.

He laughed... I cried.

There's a good book out there (old... but good)

called "the millionaire next door"

tis why you can't judge someone on appearances, cars and such alone.

might have really nice things,.. but living paycheck to paycheck hoping nothing goes wrong or their royally screwed.

there is always talk about your watch not matching your clothes and vehicle, this wrist shot is for those that are hung up on that idea. be careful judging a book by it's cover, sam walton drove a truck exactly like this until he died. i stopped driving this one everyday when gas got to 4.00 per gallon. it gets 8 mpg.

my 1976 ford f150 4wd and v series ss daytona.
