Somewhere recently I read that if you ordered a rep now you wouldn't get it until February. I'll try to find what I read.
can confirm. Do not order ANY watches now, just wait it out and order it in March 2015

I didn't mean stand out literally. I meant that it looks very big like it's too big for the watch case. To me, the smaller crown on the Mark XVII looks more proportional in size to the case of the watch (at least in photos).

I've currently got a TC so I'm used to a very nice rep, so I want to get the nicest IWC I can (with a full dial second hand).

Yes the crown is big, but it HAS to be big - also on gen! In WWII the pilots wear leather gloves and so they needed a big crown to operate the watch. That is the reason. And - to be honest - this is a MANs watch and it has to have a big crown and a big diameter. Portugueses or Ingenieurs are for the boys and girls...

:)

I think I've decided on the 3777. Is there a "best" or most current version? How is Ryan's version? I assume the 3777 doesn't have any of the seconds@6 problems, because it's second hand is at the original position for the A7750 movement?

Thanks for the help.

The "HB V6 maker" version. Available from Ryan. No sec@6 problems. A very good decision!

Hm, good question. I bought two 3777 from Ryan, both had the pusher issue, but this is some months - nearly a year - ago. Possibly only the new versions with the updated pushers are available. Ask him, he is quick and he'll answer soon.

I would start with these..... you need to adjust the PR hand a bit on the 5002 (5 minutes...), otherwise its outstanding.

I need some of you all's opinions...

I just placed an order from Ryan for his 3777, and I'm about to pay him via WU. But, I'm having some second thoughts on changing my order to the Mark XVII. I'm getting the watch to wear at work (I'm a young engineer) and I don't want the watch to draw attention from my coworkers. Do you think the XVII would be a better choice due to it being smaller and not having chronos? I'm thinking the XVII would be less of a "look at me" watch. Thoughts?

IMO the 3777 has more presence than the BigPilot (I have them both). So the 3777 is an eye cathcer. But hey - who really knows IWC, I think not one of your colleagues, and 3777...? If one recognizes the watch: tell them, your father made you a gift for your exam. The 3777 isn't that expensive that a young engineer would never buy it. So I would go for the 3777. The Mark XVII is a nice watch, if you have some other IWCs or a nice entry to the gen world of IWC. But it never, never has the presence of the 3777.
