Whats the accuracy of the myota? I believe the accuracy of the ETA or clone being in the +30/-30 seconds a day is the best it can get.
That's not very good. I can regulate within 5s/day with most high beat movements on the timegrapher. I normally only wear a watch for 3 days in a row, but I'll generally see around 7 seconds drift by the time I remove it.
The miyota is harder to regulate because of the lack of a fine adjuster, so they normally drift more than my ETA clones.
I think you misunderstood my post, +-30 seconds a day is what ETA has it rated for a "standard" grade ETA movement Im assuming that most of the clones run close to a standard grade movement.
" If you look at the ETA specs for the 2824, they are pretty loose: For COSC certified it is -4 / +6 seconds per day, for top but non certified its +- 10 seconds per day, elabore grade is -+ 20 and for a standard base its +-30 seconds. This applies to new or newly serviced movements. If a service is needed then the watch usually slows down a lot as oils get thicker and contains contaminants from wear. If the oils have all dried out completely then the watch will speed up a lot; in both cases a service is needed to correct it and timing will not help. "
Thats not to say that you cant regulate it better but what ETA suggests as acceptable is within that range
It’s unlikely there have been any significant changes to either movement since this thread was last contributed to. So the opinions expressed above would still be as valid today as they were when posted. One could speculate that the Chinese get better at copying stuff all the time, so the standard of a Chinese clone movement is constantly rising - but this is probably then balanced out by the variable conditions in Chinese assembly plants with less stringent QC.I may have to make this choice for my 1st rep purchase soon (older IW3233-05, or maybe a -10). This thread is a a bit aged, and modernizations & methods improving as they are wont to do over the years--- are there any fresh opinions on today's iterations of these movements compared to one another? I want something accurate, reliable, easier to service and the closest approximation to the caliber 80110.
