Yep, let's all pile on indyberetta for calmly responding to provocations and attacks on his judgment and character for three pages, before deciding he'd had enough on the fourth.

Somebody is really making a fool of himself here.
And now I am a jerk, right? lol
Look. If you dont want to stay here, you are free to go. I honestly couldnt care less how you spend your spare time and will do my best to try and sleep nicely anyway.
Asking for a few bucks refund shows even better what you are, if thats what you want, you'll have that and nothing else. But let me tell you, you arent in your own pigpen. This forum is a splendid community held together with hard work by admins, mods and lots of active, collaborative people, giving a good amount of their valuable time.
So stop whining, bugging and bragging and thank us. And stop judging admins great efforts, you are simply not entitled to.
If you cant hold different opinions and humor a forum is not a good place for you.
So far I just made fun of silly claims coming from a couple of newbies, one willing to sell a badly put together franken for 1800$ and the second one trying to defend the sale even after it was bloody nuked. Wanna keep on ranting? Go on, I will take the piss to death just for fun, as always without consulting you or any other noob before taking my decisions.
I am still trying to be polite, here. I think you are mad cos you realized how ridiculous, childish and unpopular your position was, thats all. But I dont give a rats ass about you and any other arrogant noob insulting the whole forum just cos his boyfriend ditched him.

And thats factual.

Actua?

Damn, I have to becareful, I was almost kicked by a peep today XD

P.S. You are still in time if you want to switch to 35 years experience. That would make you look more respectable, just like when you change your napkin all by yourself.

I am a noob here, very interested in Reps. I have been collecting antique watches for awhile and while surfing for watches stumbled upon this great site. I have read and read and read and still feel like I know nothing about reps, modding, etc. Regardless of peoples feelings, the point that I have taken from this post is that there are people willing to make determinations as to how a watch is being represented for sale regardless of the blow back.
This has only solidified for me that this site is a great resource with decent people willing to help, teach and in the process continue to learn.

"If some noob gets ****** here who is taking responsability?"

"I'm proud to be a member of a forum that has been and continues to be a respectable place where everyone of all levels of experience can gather to enjoy a past-time that results in a positive experience. If I can contribute to that experience in some small way, then that just makes the hobby all that more enjoyable for me."

I am one of those "noobs" that doesn't want to get **** and I can certainly say that I appreciate (although haven't been here for long) all the knowledge that this site offers.

I was about to ask why Dave123 was hanging in the window... but then realized that most of the people in this 'discussion' haven't been around long enough to know what the hell I am talking about...

Indy has...

As far as any Rolex watch over 30 years old that is still running... well, most of them are on there way to frankenhood. Rolex doesn't support most models once they are past a certain age, and as a company they don't put much effort into promoting 'vintage' other than hyping the past to promote newer models.

Therefore, very old models, for which Rolex purchased ébauche, dead and dying parts are replaced with parts from other brand watches which are not viewed as being 'as desirable' as a vintage Rolex.

If a part is not available, for what ever reason, any watchmaker worth his salt can turn out many parts from staffs to bridges, and have done so on many occasions. The watch that started this issue has such a movement, the balance bridge is hand made, the rest of the movement is spare and gen parts. But it looks like ass, because the watchmaker involved with it's creation apparently was incapable of finish technique, or just wanted the fastest buck possible.

Break a lug and there is no such thing as a service replacement case anymore.. so.. either a case is acquired from a dead Rolex that has been parted out, or, more affordable sometimes, a 'replacement case' is purchased. At this point, the watch is pretty much a high quality rep if all has been done correctly.

There are many such watches in circulation today, and yes, many of them are exchanged at big watch shows and even legitimate dealers' shops.

And, this is not just an issue with vintage Rolex... just most prevalent with this marque.

Guys... No more personal attacks in this thread please. You are welcome to express your opinion, but there's no need to bash someone else's or to attack each other. Another offensive or malicious comment and someone's going to earn themselves a time-out.

And Indy, please change the user title above your avatar. It's not in the spirit of the forum. If you don't change it soon, I will do it for you. And why would you let this silly argument drive you away from RWI? Let's all just cool down. ;)

Agreed, enough all round.
And Indy, pray tell what has changed here?

I'm kind of late to the argument and still havent seen the original sales thread... however I must say I know Indy very well personally. He is the most knowledgeable rep collector I have ever met. He also is a fine person. Locally his reputation is beyond reproach. I feel sure if his detractors met him in person they would embrace him as a friend and fine mentor in our watch business. I haven't had the pleasure to meet the other parties in this argument but I'm sure we would all get along just fine. We shouldn't be losing fine members on this forum... this includes parties from both sides of the argument.

Old school 1019. White dial. Laser etched between lugs. Such a wonderful job they did especially on this one. Looks absolutely authentic, feels authentic. What else can you want from a watch?...

...As for the movement, I found the 1560 movements on various sites, and the eccentric weight is what is throwing you guys off.
It is possible that at a later time the rotor from the 1560 was removed due to rust, and replaced with another from a 1570 movement. The movement, is authentic.

I have to say that the case has THE nicest drilled lug holes that I've ever seen! :)
