Okay, okay, I give up!! I've searched and searched for a dealer(s) who sells MBW but, I've had no luck. Could somebody please tell me who I can contact to see and buy MBW watches. I've asked this question on another site only to receive, "...contact Joe or Tony or Bob at RGC, TRC, ABC, etc..."Please, I'm begging you, be specific. Any help would be much appreciated.

Some of our RWI dealers carry vintage subs on their websites.

Check out Trustytime and Perfect Clones.

George or Watchmaster. The answers are out there, and finding them for yourself is part of the battle of MBW.

You know how much they cost, and you know they're average quality until you add expensive gen parts, right?

unless you are really looking forward to an overhaul of the watch or adding gen parts - a suggestion might be a "best" or "ultimate" sub from Josh or Trusty.

They are both excellent watches and although not the mythical "mbw", they are superb watches with some great upgrades and come from dealers who will honor, track and help you with any problems you may have.

Just my .02 having owned a perfect sub and a mbw.

Enjoy! [smilie=icon_thumleft.gif]

Based on Ziggy's recent 'metal' review, I'd say the MBWs are far from "average" puggy

Without mods, they're good, but not as good as people make them out to be. Taking genuine parts is, and always has been, their main advantage.

Do you know anyone with a stock MBW?

When a n00b's first post is "Where can I get an MBW", it's safe to assume they don't really know what they're getting themselves into. If they didn't do enough research to find where to get them, they didn't do enough research to know what an MBW Sub is. :D

What I meant was that in ziggy's sub case review, the MBWs were made of a significantly higher quality of metal than other subs - so hard that it took him 4 hours and several drillbits to drill holes in the case (the standard sub case took like a minute)...

So yes, although it may not be accurate without mods, the one thing we do know is that the case is made with higher quality steel...

True. :D

ps. One day, I'll be ready for an MBW, but I'm way too new to need one yet.

I agree with Pug, unless you are willing to part with significant cash to purchase ($330 EU for a vintage model)and that or more to modify it with OEM Rolex parts, you are wasting your money. After communicating with both sources I decided to go with a modern version from Trusty for $188 and couldn't be more pleased with the quality and appearance. Purchasing a good replica with many of the modifications already done is the best alternative unless you have the skills and equipment necessary to do the work yourself. This isn't to say that at some point I might decide to get a vintage model. If I do, I would consider and MBW or WM as well as one of the versions offered by forum dealers.

Harder material must not be higher quality, its just another alloy. Most watches are made of 316L Stainless Steel, good steel. For me its more important, that its a good ALLOY regarding what it contains. (Too much chrome or nickel for example sucks...)

Think about gold. 14 karat (333/1000) gold is much harder then 18/24 karat, because 24K is nearly pure gold (999/1000), and pure gold is really soft, so you have to polish often.
A 14K gold watch needs less polishment. (And less money to buy it)

It depends on what you expect of the material. For example:
If you want to cut HARD concrete, you need a flex-disc with SOFT diamonds.
If you want to cut SOFT material, take a disc with HARD diamonds, and your discs are going to last for a long long while.
Don`t listen to uneducated salesmen...

Just my 2 cents 8)

JCM1662 -- you said if you get an mbw, you're in for an immediate overhaul.

is that the general impression: that the mbw's arrive in such a state as to require an immediate service?

i had the impression their movements were more likely to arrive in good shape... versus, eg, the $100-200 versions.

best,

jsph

Duh. No, seriously, think about what you said.

Your saying the equivalent of "It's always in the last place you look", a tautology.

yeah i saw your post over on the lightside. To be honest i think you're SOL. I recall only seeing george selling the MBW off of TRC, but i can't locate his dealer page anymore (it had some very nice flash stuff on it). there's also the hint of a variety of scamming people under the name of *george* trying to scam mbw seekers outta their money (like this one: http://www.watchmaker9.tv/ - stay away).

I've heard all holy grail stuff about the MBW's, but outta the box, i heard other subs like trusty's fare better. Keep reading that mbw's need a huge makeover - so it's a good modder's watch. why bother unless you're into modding?

as for the life of me, i gave up looking for where to source one. Just buy a used mbw... i see those for sale more often than anyone giving a straight answer where it is.

well, i pulled the trigger and bought a wm/mbw white sub..the quality is much much better than the usual reps. the steel has a shine which can only be matched by my gens. the metal is pretty scratch resistant, my sprinbar tool slipped and went across the polished surface on the side and there was utterly NO scratches. the metal on the bracelet is also one of the hardest i've ever encountered. it is nearly impossible to bend the metal sheets w bare hands. that is how strong the metal is..

yes, they are not as accurate out of the box compared to what others are offering..and yes, they are light and the bracelet feels flimsy..so what? the dial looks beautiful, signed singer, the date change is at 12:00mn sharp, winding is perfect, the crown threads are perfect and robust, etc etc..yes, they need mods to make them perfect..reps ARE reps..

the wm/mbw white sub is so awesome that i bought a wm DRSD direct from george a day after receiving the white sub..and for a person who is a hardcore panerai and breitling wearer, buying another 40mm watch a day after receiving one says alot abt its quality..

some shots to show it's shine..photos taken in natural light and under a shade..

MBW

If you are willing to pay the price for the watch and have the ability to do (or pay for) the mods - the 1680 or SD can look quite good.

All these posts and no one has answered this poor guy's question...

I don't understand the secrecy of all this, are all the hoops to jump through part of George's (or whoever) design? However, I don't care to buy an MBW/WM Rollie, so it doesn't really make a difference to me.
