first impression is bad, quite thick compare to gen ( look at the case back?which is very important in this thin watch.
mvt is inverted. base on seagull st2555 which is ok i guess? we are fine with the inverted P9000. but the inverted engraving on the mvt against non inverted case back? idont know where to look at

i think i will pass on this one. but let me know what u guys think of it

I haven't compared it details by details against my gen but I think it's pretty decent for the first 42mm 1940 case.

The inverted letterings on the movement is indeed looking weird though. Also the movement diameter is wider than the gen resulting in thinner caseback rim.

In terms of dial and case shape accuracy (apart from being thicker), how accurate is this?
Would it pass on the wrist?

Would def like to see this in a thickness test vs gen! To me the sole reason behind this model is the thin profile. Without it this is just another PAM.

What factory put this model out? Are other factories going to compete over the 512?

caseback on the gen is almost flat, not domed

In a Causal Loop
Jomashop lists the case thickness at 13.7mm. Also, the Panerai site lists the gen movement at only 3.4mm thick.

I found this picture--------- I believe it's a gen 512

Dont understand why people are complaining about the movement. Ever since Panerai moved to inhouse movements, reps will never be accurate once you turn it over. Just be happy the rest of the watch it built to a high standard.

This is key right here. When the gen has an open case back and an inhouse movement, it's going to be REALLY tough to fake. Even with the "super clone" movements, it's still obvious when compared to gen.

With the movement they have to work with, I still think did a pretty good job! The gen movement is 3.4mm thick while this movement is 3.7mm (assuming it's some variant of the DG1800) so it's not that much thicker. As long as the case construction is similar to gen, then this should still wear pretty thin on the wrist. From the front I think it still looks great!

I like it, and for that price you can't go too wrong. 42mm seems perfect for a dress watch for work. I own a 88 and 6152, so it will be interesting to see the size in comparison

Great price! guys i know the movement isnt perfect. But after viewing the video, the finish on that movement looks freakin awesome. I know its inverted and has differences from gen. And those blue screws (WHYYYY) but none the less, the plating looks great, engravings look wonderful. I think this is a nice looking rep. I think we were all skeptical about how close they could come, and they did a pretty good job on this. We will never be really happy, there is always something to nit pick. But that being said. For those of you searching for a 42mm .... jump all over this one.
