Straight from the Time Warp Machine

I know this won't float too many boats; but I am excited. Just got my newest addition to the old watch museum.

Great looking grail material!
The one thing I am trying to nail down is whether or not the the small GMT hand came on PCG without chapter ring dial. The only research I could turn up contradicts this.

Thanks, this research here just mentions the version with gilt dial and no chapter rings, anyway I´d venture there has always been at least one:)

Thank you for sharing this, the more info the better to build on. I found this site: http://www.gmtmasterhistory.com/gmt-master_ref_1675.html
It is on 1675, if you look in the left pane there is the rest of the GMT history, 6542, 16710, etc., Very good site for GMT info as long as it is legit, but I see no reason for it not to be.

The research I have done over the years show small GMT hand through 1966. In 66 you will see both gilt and matte dials and both small and big GMT hands as Rolex transitioned from gilt to matte. Generally the gilt have the small hand and matte have the larger hand, but collectors have argued that some early matte dials also came with the small hand in late 66 and early 67.
Any dial variation prior to 1966 and some in 66-67, a small GMT hand is proper IMHO.

Adding PCG's to this mix what years would you say are relevant with small GMT hand? or is it still the same?

I am not as well read in the early 60's as I am in the mid 60's.
Somewhat cloudy...you see both with chapter ring pcg but my guess is that some we see had the GMT hand replaced. Could have been replaced 50 years ago at service...
If you look at a lot of pics from that early 1675 era, the "original" looking watches generally have the small hand. If I was building one with any variation of gilt dial, I would go small hand. If I was looking to buy a gen I would do the same.
