Just curious... I just got my tracking from Lay and this is what he wrote. Why add Water proof to 30 meters? Is this a new testing that he has verified? Or does everybody get verification/tracking this way? I'm just curious because most of the advices from this forum says take waterproofing with a grain of salt.

I had this with the 005k. Lay said "waterproof tested by factory". Hm...

When you say "He" do you mean he does it or the factory does it?

He said the factory tested it? Did you test it out for a swim?

might be just a description to keep a low invoice for customs. Maybe he just want to say that he only made the service of waterproofing the watch instead of selling a watch....

I got my 177L from Lay and he said it was waterproofed to 30 meters as well.

I would love to know how true this is since I am going on vacation next week and like to have a watch I can take into the pool.

30m is generally not enough for swimming. It is enough for rain storms and washing your hands though.
Enjoy your 177L!

Hmmmmm, I not an expert in swimming pools but I highly doubt there is one that is 98.4 feet deep.... So my guess is that 30 meters is deffinately enough for swimming, snorkeling and other basic water activites.... Mabye you meant 3 meters since thats like 10ft.....

I would deffinately have it checked, never assume the factory did what they say the did....

Btw, I think your dogs ate my DSSD! Lol.....

Only one way to find out for sure ya know! I went diving with my cheapo daytona from WE only ended up taking it like 30ft and never had any problems.

I asked lay if he could personaly do a pressure test on my ploprof because it will see some water while I'm on fishing on the boat he confirmed that it is good for 100 meters. Every other watch I have bought from him has only be good for 30 meters I just bought a Omega SMP and its only 30 meters. I've only asked for the ploprof to be tested by him all other watches I never asked to be pressure tested. Which leads me to believe that the 30 meters is probably what the factory tells him??

I'm going to Vegas....not diving the Great Barrier Reef.

It will literally see some water, not any depth more than a couple feet.

What's the easiest way to get the watch tested?

Agree. Any cheap rolex($70 below) can easily withstand shower, rain and splash. Not to mention yr few hundred dollar rep has better build and fit.

Pool swimming is not a problem. As trailboss99. He has some good quality rep tested really up to 100m. I seriously doubt any of you really has the chance to dive in deep depth. For me, most will be pool swimming.

Lay Ploprof WP up to 100m! :)

He pressure tested my ploprof to 100 meters I swim with it all the time and it goes in salt water. No problems as of yet.

Have a ploprof from Lay coming in. He confirmed in the chat right now that they did test my ploprof themself, not factory.

He guarantees 100m, I can swim and shower and dive - no problem. IF it would not be waterproof he'd give back my money, no discussion! He also suggested to have it tested here, but said it'd be actually only waste of money. He sounded very confident about this... :)

258 USD for a V2 with A7750, guaranteed WP up to 100m - how cool is that?!

Yeah thats awesome! I do plan on diving with mine in the near future I'd like to take it maybe just over 100 feet just to see. I won't rely on it for anything underwater but It would be nice to get some pics down deep :) My girls dad is a diving instructor maybe i'll ask him to take it down with him on one of his dives.

So the 30m is not referring to the depth the watch can withstand?

It is referring to the pressure it can withstand in a static, non-moving environment. Pressures will change, I.e. Increase, as one moves the watch through the water, the water itself moves or you smack your watch against something while submerged.

I had a link at one point for recommended ratings for different uses... 100m was the suggestion for swimming and other near surface activities.

I'm guessing that 30m would be ok for most light use... But for swimming? I'd prefer a larger safety margin... Just my opinion though.

For most Pam reps, the weak spot will be the crown. Assuming you've silicon greased the case back and the crystal is seated properly of course. Check the crown, grease the seals and give it a whirl. My ancient H series 177 is fine for swimming after some work. It came to me with a dealer rating of 30m and I swam with it... I then had to service the movement when it leaked around the crown after swimming in under 15ft depths. So... Better safe than sorry in my mind.

Don't dive with reps. They are just not built for that IMO. But then if you do it anyway, show the pics :D

30m means the watch can go to 1 ATM of pressure with no leaks, about 100ft. Swimming is obviously nowhere near that.

Edit: didn't realize we were on page 2 when I typed that reply. I DO plan on diving with my UPO next month, i'll take some pics of it on the coral 11sf :)

I would not swim with any rep until I had it pressure tested personally.

My local watch-smith charges $20 and tests to 3 BAR's.

I get a printout of the test and piece of mind. :)
