this is available in seagull st2555 now

Hi,

I was planning to buy a PAM389, I already made the decision to go with the KW version rather than the ZF model. Now there is another option, the KW version with the Seagull movement. I was wondering if the movement is the only difference between these models? The price tag for the A7750 is $398 and for the Seagull $288. Is the extra $110 worth it to go with the A7750 movement or should I go with the cheaper Seagull?

Thanks,

Some pics would be welcome, just to check if the ST2555 has any improvements. In any case the a7750 will always be inaccurate regardless the decorations, so I would go with the seagull and spend the 100 usd on a great strap! ;)

I agree completely with Kilo

NO DOUBTS about this matter !!

Since the caseback is closed and, besides, the decorated A7750 will be as inaccurate as the decorated Seagull, the best choice will be (by far) the cheaper Seagull
Moreover it is more reliable

A bargain for the price !! and nowadays the best option BY FAR

I agree as well and ordered two of the KW Seagulls, one for each wrist. QC pictures follow. Serial numbers at my AD only went to 600, not 1000. Does the date look not centered in the second watch (problem mentioned earlier in this thread)?

First one

And the second one

May be the one you saw at your AD was a P series (600 for 2013 ), your reps are O series (1000 for year 2012). I´ve also seen Q series (800 for 2014).

The non centered date window, on 389s, is definitely a thing to check in QC pics before giving green light :-(

It's night here in Germany but tomorrow I show you how you can center the date at a 389. It's a very easy job and this work does not take more than 10 minutes.

Thanks JMMC - that's helpful. I've not previously understood the meaning of the letter after the model number - is that always referring to the year? And the total number (600, 1000, 800) is just for that particular year? Is the total quantity per year listed somewhere for each model by Panerai?

Thanks Chris - I look forward to getting your fix for centering the date on a 389. Does it matter if it's a 7750 or a Seagull movement?

Thanks Chris. Would anyone know if the process is similar for a Seagull movement?

You are right. Letter=year xxx/yyy=refer to the number of units produced for that year/letter/series , for a particular model.
Take your time and have a look to superb Ale's Pam guide...

I'm very familiar with Ale's PAM guide and wouldn't buy a PAM without it! There's so much info in there that I hadn't seen the details on the year/letter/series, but I will go back and have a look. Thanks for the suggestion!

OK, great post, we already have dissected, closely examined and compared both ZF and KW. Slightly differences observed, better finishing on KW, being the major fault the wrong case shape on KW.

Now let's play the game, let's see if differences are so big and noticeable at first sight when you do not have both side to side to compare...

Are you able to tell, just by looking at the silhouette, wich factory this watch came from???
No so big differences isn´t it?
May be Is it a GEN :matty:???

(sorry for the quality of pics, both pics from the same watch, with and without flash, what cares here is case shape, its silhouette)

Thanks for looking.

It is grey but looks green/grey under internal lights. It's a DaLuca and I got it on amazon for about 22gbp. It appears to be very good quality although I have nothing to compare it with.
