Hi Set2374, great review with awesome write up and pictures, thanks. I'm actually eyeing the 312 at the moment and your comments really hit it home for me. The only thing I'm wondering is that the caseback in the gen (that I saw from an unboxing post at another forum) is polished, very shiny like the bezel, where as the rep I see from here is sort of brushed. However I don't see any comments regarding that difference between the gen and the rep about the caseback - you have any insights?

Just a quick update guys, the stem on my KW 312O with ST2555 broke while I was winding the watch. I brought it to two different local watchsmith's in the US and neither were particularly enthused about having to search of the right stem. :( I was hoping to have it repaired in to time for my vacation in St. Thomas, but it is not to be. I am sending the watch back to Sead for either a replacement or repair. Other than a stupid stem, the watch was working great and keeping great time with a nice long power reserve. The moral of the story though is that to source any parts for this movement (at least in the US) is going to be pretty difficult. Even finding a replacement movement is really hard. Although I see no reason why this can't be an amazing movement, until there is a easily accessible supply of parts--the A7750 is certainly an easier movement to service and repair.

I guess it will be a few weeks before I have my 312 back on the wrist, but at least my 382 should be arriving at the end of the week to soften the blow. :)

FYI

The gen has brushed caseback from 2012 O-series. Before that was polished
The dial inscriptions colour also changed in 2012 to creamy or ecru like in last PAM series

Hi guys,

Need some advice on my new kw312 v2 with st2555 from sora. Everything looks perfect except for the power reserve where it on last for 10 hrs after each wind.

I started using it after winding it 50 turns on crown and it only last for half a day.

Can you please provide some pointers as I believe the power reserve should be longer than that?

Thanks,
Keith

are you asking why you're only getting 10 hours of PR after winding it 50 times? or just in general use. you don't have to wind the watch (or at least certainly not 50 times) to get it moving. it is an automatic movement after all. just strap it on your wrist and you should be good to go.

As long as its on the wrist it should always run (even without winding) otherwise the rotor is not turning well or some screws are loose not allowing the rotor to turn properly (put in lay terms:)

I'm wearing it on my wrist but it still stopped after 10hrs, now reduced to 2 hrs after winding.

I wind it by turning the crown clockwise for about 30 to 50 times. Is this the correct way to do it?

As I'm new to this, would appreciate any advice.

Thanks

What's the expected power reserve for st2555 during wear and while standby (un wore) ?

You should probably get the seller to have it checked.

I have a PAM 351 with the ST2555 and it can hold its power for at least 30 hours when unworn, based on my experience.

Thanks all for the advise.

I'll give it another go and monitor again as sora mentioned that this is normal for seagull st2555.

I have had some issues with the power reserve on my st2555, seems to last less than 15 hours off wrist after 12 hours on the wrist even with a little wind. It keeps keeps time wrist though. It sounds like of our watches could use a service. Yours might only need a good regulation, which is something a local watch smith could handle. Sending watches back to China is a last resort in my book when the problem may require a replacement. As I have mentioned in then past though, it's a bitch to source parts for the st2555 in the US. This one major point in favor of opting for an A7750 based version.

I don't think that kind of power reserve is normal at all.

Just as an example, I wear my watch to work for about 12 hours by the time I get home and if I'm not working the next day, it remains on my desk for at least 36 hours without being touched at all. When I pick it up the following day, it's still ticking and keeping time.

i believe all of my watches, both gens and reps, can do this at the very minimum.

Thanks all for the advice.

I've sent it to a local watch smith, quoted me $200 to have it serviced.

Can share the contacts? Also, if the watchsmith is doing a full service, I think it's worth the money actually.
