Good link, thank you! Always nice to get something without international shipping. If you have a pair extra that you want to throw in an envelope, PM me. If not, I'll buy those ones.

If I had any left over I would send them to you, but I used the three pairs that I ordered. Enjoy your watch when it arrives!

Just got my QC for my 6263. Looking at it, does it appear that the 6 subdial/lume/120 are misaligned? Not sure how picky to be on this. Same with the 80 on the bezel? Is the complete bezel rotated? 5 oclock lume might be cut off by that marker, too.

LMK your thoughts, please.

I would not worry about that in a $200 toy watch
(I have one too)

I think mine has the same "defect"

On this one from vintagedaytona.com the 60 seems somewhat misaligned.

Another Gen with the same bezel alignment that mine matches. I've accepted my QC and asked for shipping.

Interestingly, if you compare my QC shot to the earlier post way back at the start of this thread that discusses the tells between the rep and the gen, the dial on mine has been improved.

I agree, is only $200, have some fun. There are so many flaws which I might upset you if I list them, the lume is the least of your worry.

To give you an idea people spend more than $200 on a Phong bezel and Phong bezel is still not gen like.

Relax and have some fun :) Until you are ready to dive into the vintage rabbit hole, what you don't see might be a blessing ;-). The more you study and learn (as we all still do) you will regret not be able to unsee things.

Phil, I totally hear what you're saying, and I already know the differences. I wasn't trying to compare the $200 rep to the gen, it was simply to review a specific quality concern of the offered piece. I'm happy with it as is, and will post pics when it arrives!

Great thread, and I appreciate all the info that I have learned from.

I think it looks just fine. I was worry about the misalignment at first but when I got the watch, those misalignments are hard to see or even unnoticed. For $200, I am really happy with the overal quality of the watch.

The only thing I am not sure is the sound of the movement, I notice recently that it is so loud. I can even hear it when driving along or sitting in the office. The ticking sound can be heard from 30-40cm away.

Has anyone experienced or feel the same? If it is an issue, how to fix ir?

Well, perhaps reaching one's fifties has it advantages in this particular regard ....

Mine has a pretty big "Lemania jump" where the chrono second hand jumps back when starting it, and sometimes it does not reset properly either.
Do I care? Not really ....

I received my watch yesterday. I have a concern. After winding the watch, it won't start to run when the crown is screwed in. It will start running if I give the watch a shake once (and I know it's not an automatic). Also, it won't keep running. Sometimes it sticks after a minute, sometimes it will run ten minutes. It will usually restart with a shake of the wrist. Do you have any advice for me? I haven't wound it until it stops, should I try that? It seems to just keep winding, and I'm afraid to break the spring.

try to fully wind it. I have 2 modded ST19 daytonas and never had this issue. Chronograph starts and stops properly? Also wind it slowly and carefully don't go ham on it. Do let me know how it goes

Ah another person who did not grow up with mechanical watches ..... I am getting old!
Just wind it until you hit the stop. Unless you are useing unreasonable force you won't overwind it.

Keep in mind that these are cheapo reps and the movement may not be perfect. You may have to have it serviced. My own watch is a bit temperamental when I use the chrono function too much. I was using it in the gym to time my rests between sets and it started to play up a bit.

lol, I grew up with no watch, and inherited dad's 1978 Datejust, and that has been on my wrist since the early 90s. I've got his Gruen somewere as well, but don't wear it.

I'll try giving it a full stop wind at lunch time. Since I opened it last night, I've wound it numerous times, anywhere from 20-50 turns. Currently on my wrist, and it will stop after a few seconds, but it will start if I give it a wrist snap roll. The chrono works fine, but stops at the same time when the second hand does. It will start/stop/reset.

Edit: just wound it slowly for almost five minutes. Never hit a stop. Feels normal, about 6 click from top pusher to bottom on my thumb. Still won't start when crown is pushed in. Only runs for 5 seconds or so when I get it going.

Something rotten in Britain. Fix it or have it fixed, throw it out, keep for parts, etc. My watch maker could easily fix it but you would be a couple of hundred in the red. Which may defeat the purpose of buying a cheap rep.
Old datejusts are cool especially one with a history. A client of mine as his father's old Datejust from 1962. Still looks great.
