Hahaha. I can’t tell the difference mate. Perhaps, if you had both gen and rep side by side and you knew what to look for, you may see the beat difference .....but at that close distance you’ll know it’s a rep from overall finish, case thickness and depth of dial finish.

The gen crystal is also very clear....clearer than JF but not invisible like ProfS.


Some say rep has a different colour DW, I’m not sure, all I know is that there are different gen batches and you ain’t gonna get called out based on DW colour. Lol


I’ll post a side by side video when I get a v3.

I’m just so impressed with the rep. It’s believably good. JF need to thin out that case tho. The gen feels so much thinner and better balanced IMO. But on the wrist it’s impossible to tell the difference in thickness.

I agree that the thickness is the main thing. The extra mm on the case back make the watch sit differently on the wrist. One way to hide it, is to remove enough links till the watch sits very close to your wrist and the case back sinks into your wrist. Problem is how comfortable will that be over long periods......

Yeh, the gen dial is stunning. Rep doesn’t even capture 40% of the gen dials beauty. However, on the wrist, I can’t tell the bloody difference. Lol

Or you just thin the case. It's a big difference. I actually MUCH prefer my modded 15400 over the stock model in terms of comfort on the wrist/balance.

it's not exactly that simple though. Louie offered the service but now that is done. I don't know why the other major TDs don't offer the service.

What? you cannot spot the dial difference on the wrist? Why? I can spot it directly when someone moves the fake dial, you can clearly see the "raised" pattern where the Gen is more flat. I did actually see that as a "noob" too. When i dont had spent that much time on the forum like now

btw. looks like they changed the blue from the gen again, because on the 2017er it was way more "blue" now its more like "light" blue.

Edit: oh and the AP writing is thicker than last year very interesting. Congrats on the gen! Its just a beauty

Thanks mate. If somebody was sitting next to me in a meeting, I don’t think I could spot the rep blue dial. No way. That’s just me tho. I don’t study rep vs gen dials that closely.

Also, These watches are so blingy that it’s hard to get a good look unless I’m very close and the watch doesn’t move for some time. Lol.

As you say, there are too many gen batch variations, mine is 2018. As far as I know the rep features are gen variations....how can we prove otherwise. ????

Now up close and in the hands,
it’s a different story.

The Royal Oak is stunning. Absolutely beautiful.

I actually wanted to get a Nautilus (my grail) but side by side the Royal Oak absolutely kills the Nautilus (IMO). Nautilus doesn’t have the same wrist presence and sex appeal of the Royal Oak....and costs a lot more.

I keep looking at the gen crystal and the clarity is significantly different to any JF15400s I’ve had. The rep bracelet is also quite rough and sharp along edges and corners but is more than good enough IMO.

see that is the thing people forget mate. Some of the rep features are things that were found on the gen for like one year and then the gen was updated and changed. This makes the rep feature look like a "tell". The reps don't keep following the updates most times, they just keep printing old fonts. This is even more common with Rolex reps

My wife has one of those (in white). She loves it and it does look good.

The LadyOak doesn’t have any minute markers. Perhaps the factories found it difficult to print minute markers on that pattern and hence they didn’t use it for the gents RO?

hey guys,not following this thread for a long time,wanting to buy the v3 but still the miyota watch made clear rotor noises ? i've held the GEN AP Carbon diver (the open caseback model) but the rotor seems a bit noisy,and havent held gen 15400

and also for the dial colour accuracy is it like this ? Silver>Blue>Black ?

Regardless, she likes it a lot. Normally she wouldn’t touch diamanté but it looks quite classy and not trashy IMO.
