Thanks, mate. I thought it was v1 based on the qc and was going mad comparing to other v2 pics and not seeing any difference.

Tigerdragon had told me he thought it was v1 based on my qc pics on a thread on the exile forum. In hand, I couldn't see a difference between mine and others that had been labelled v2 (turns out there isn't a difference!). From what I can tell, the v1 has more rounded edges and more rounded tops to the tappiseries.

To your philosophical question, even if I couldn't see the difference, i'd want to know I was getting the best version for FOMO, wanting higher re-sell value and knowing the flaws to look for in my watch as I become more familiar with the model and the intricacies of the rep. To the last point, when I bought my v5 noob sub, I had no idea SEL were an issue. Now I scrutinise the still imperfect SEL on my BK v7 with v6s bracelet and it will make me appreciate the 'perfection' when I go gen eventually.

On the exile forum. You said it was the first time you'd seen the fat logo on the v1 style tapiserie pattern. The qc pics weren't great resolution

There was a few pages of discussion about that around a year ago and a half. Just do the research.
It does exist.

JF will release real V2 not V3 , they bought Gen , and now update dial only , when finish current stock will see real V2 from Gen sample

I'm not sure if updating 15400 white dial is even necessarily. White dial is so freaking close to gen it's hard to tell them apart.
Minute markers on white are also quite good.
