Tungsten-Copper (quoting from wikipedia): "The material combines the properties of both metals, resulting in a material that is heat-resistant, ablation-resistant, highly thermally and electrically conductive, and easy to machine." [reference]Is this a bullcrap thread again with tungsten? Its impossible to work with
So we Will have a daydate with tungsten, that weighs like the gen thing?Tungsten-Copper (quoting from wikipedia): "The material combines the properties of both metals, resulting in a material that is heat-resistant, ablation-resistant, highly thermally and electrically conductive, and easy to machine." Apparently the feeds & speeds for machining CuW depends on the ratio of the metal mixture (technically it's not an alloy). Quoting from eaglealloys.com "Copper Tungsten Alloys use speeds and feeds similar to Gray Cast Iron. Copper Tungsten Alloy become easier to machine as the copper content increases. The more tungsten content present the more care must be taken when machining. Carbide tools are suggested for most cases and a coolant is optional." [reference]

I saw the add on the puretime, couldn’t believe my eyes, I just typed my supplier, that is close friend with the JDF boss! So let’s see what he says tomorrowMaybe… to have the same weight as the gen, the whole watch case and bracelet would have to be made from W80-Cu20 and then plated with yellow gold. While this is possible, it feels unlikely given the price, but maybe not. Everything is CNC’d, so maybe it’s as simple as changing the metal stock and setting different feeds and speeds for the machine.
Its too cheap to be legitimate. It's the same price as stainless DD40. Every single TD I emailed said they haven't weighed it and the factory won't weigh it but says it's very close to gen. Suspicious as hell considering they like to always point out when they havs innovation on reps. It wouls be a selling point. Imo it's a hard passI saw the add on the puretime, couldn’t believe my eyes, I just typed my supplier, that is close friend with the JDF boss! So let’s see what he says tomorrow
Maybe we should go first for just white gold version
Tungsten copper is a very different color. It's reddish like copper. This is the Movado Tungsten Carbide watch...kinda grey
Haha Puretime has taken away that special sign, with adding the extra WU-C steel
maybe but the idea has been solidly planted....It's gone lol, all the hype for nothing?
