But one thing makes me curious. If this kid is so good with selling cars, luxury cars, and he is used to selling that online and making money, why wouldn't he just sell it easily online? No need to slam the price.

Yeah, I've asked myself the same thing but I don't want to ask him that either. He sent me a ton more pictures including all the boxes, straps, certs, business card where he got it etc... looks like the case has a few marks and one of which is fairly significant by the lug. Definitely a gen watch... still think its worth it at 1500 and he's ready to sell today. I'm gonna swing by the dealership after work today and see how bad this knick is.

If this case ends up being really bad would it be possible to buy a rep and swap everything gen into it? I know the gen cases are probably too expensive to make this viable given the price I plan to pay for it.

At 1500-2000 usd, you aren't going to touch another gen Pam. Period.

Buy it for $1500, sell it for $3500, get yourself a $300 super rep = profit + a better looking watch.

He got the original box and papers? I don't trust know one, a good business transaction is making sure everything is in order, you have to make sure the watch is Gen, don't purchase if you have doubts.

Take it to a trusted dealer to make sure is Gen. DONT TRUST ANYONE!!!!!

That's what I've been thinking. Sold my wife that it's just a good business opportunity and not to look at it like I'm blowing a lot on a watch. If she only knew how much my reps with handmade straps have cost. Haven't told her about the Vac build 390 that's on the way!

Yeah, he's sent me a ton of pictures including original sales receipt from reputable dealer in LA. All three boxes, tools, rubber strap and ugly red croc strap. I'm checking out the lot on Wednesday in person. I don't question it being gen at this point. It would be quite the scam.

As I said, is this kid stupid enough to give you a good business opportunity of an "easy-sell-by-himself" like that ? :D

It does have that pretty good knick near the lug... I've been harping on that. Telling him titanium is a lot harder to work with than SS and don't think we can get the marks out. Seeing a lot of near mints for sale out there

And I think this is the single reason why he is trying to sell you that for 2k. Most buyers would be reluctant to see this kind of knicks knacks. Besides, he probably just got big commission on his q5 sale... So the sales of the pam, for him, would be just like what we can imagine as 'extra whipcream with your coffee' for $1

:D just my 2cents

For 2k or less I'd go for it. Nice watch for the money, nick on case or not.

It is well beyond me to understand why would someone who is as clever and Internet literate as the person in question here, would sell an article for about 40% of its going rate? I mean try finding one online in used condition under 3800$ and you will struggle big time. $1500 won't get you half of a SS pam, let alone a titanium one. Unless the guy is a lazy idiot who loves losing money on easy sales - which goes against the whole premise of the story- this is a classic too good to be true story. I'd check his papers and serials with the watch, open he caseback to check the movement number against the paperwork and then take it to a reputable used watch specialist for a appraisal and verifications. Those guys are sharks and will offer you about 2500$ if it is a gen. If they do so, I'd consider it. Without any of these checks being possible, run away.

I can do any checks, I just don't want someone telling him not to sell it to me! He would probably even let me take it myself. I offered him $1200 and he said that's what he thought i would say and not sure if it was worth selling... I think we can get it done for 1500 but he wants to hear that the titanium is a lot harder to work with than SS. This whole time he was thinking it would be a simple polish but it's sounding like it wouldn't be.
Tell me, is this a tiny little knick (at the
lug). You guys would still feel good at $1500 here? I think I'm gonna push to buy it at that number or swap him a rep for about $500 credit since he wants a beater watch.

Once again, if you know the PAM's, go for it, the dent on the lug, if I'm not wrong, it can be fix with laser welding, and thats should be no more than $100-150 to fill it.
