Is this gen? What is it?

Use photobucket, and upload decent pics. Hard to tell from your crappy pics.
But... if it's too good to be truth... it's probably, not.

Here are some higher res... It's the salesman that sold me my new Q5 and he seems legit. Has all the paperwork for it. Just curious what it is so I can look it up and see actual resale value

They are his pics sent from iPhone so these are the best I can do right now

From my limited experience that appears to be gen.

I've no idea, but I read PANER AI which makes it a rep in my eyes.

Y-incabloc, proper winding gears, swan neck device/screw looks to be right (from what limited view of it we have). L-Series did indeed have that weird spacing in PANER AI.

I'd wager that's a gen.

Hmm good point. I don't see the spacing on the pic you posted but then there's more of one on the watch quote link. Does bug me a bit. Said he paid almost 5k and wants 2k. I'm closer to $1500 but also don't want to be stuck with a gen just to have one. I think he will do the 1500. Would like to be able to sell it some day but that spacing looks kind of like an error.

Ahh so the picture I quoted was not an L series so no gap... that flaw has to affect its value

If it is your Audi sales person, why don't you take it to the AD for verification? I am sure he would be ok. If not, at least you know where he works, I am sure he wouldn't want you hounding him everyday for selling you a rep.

the gap is present in the link I supplied. It appears to be a 176

He would be fine with that because he does believe its gen. Also all these 176s on eBay have that gap as well except on of the years. I kind of dont want to take it to AD because they might laugh at me (in front of him) offering 1500 for it. He's a 19 year old kid (protege Audi salesman since he was 15) and just think he's bored of the watch. Want to buy while he's impulsed to sell because I think he could get more elsewhere

That's a nice watch, if the guys from Panerai did it props to them, pretty good lookalike of the Noob factory, they still have some work to do with the dial print to get it even.

I'd rather not say, but he started hanging around the dealership in his early teens just helping out with stuff. He would take pictures of cars and send them to buyers online... sold quite a few RS8s and other high ends just through email/text message and they had to give him a job because he was producing so much and couldn't get rid of him.
I went to three dealerships to play them off each other and he easily worked the hardest for my business. I'm not a suit wearing guy and wasn't taken seriously at the other dealerships, but he busted his ass to get me the best deal.

Thanks for looking, sir! So do you think it would be a good deal, even at <$2k worst case?
