I remember the days when every other thread was a PAM thread in the sales forum (maybe around 7-8 years ago).
Before Noob and HF, really well made PAMs were not as commonly found unless you could lay your hands on a Honpo or Eddie Lee piece.
After HF and Noob began to focus on them, there was a lot of pent-up demand, for well-made quality Panerai reps.
These could further be modded, and have been by a number of well known members. You could get Sead CGs, FGD dials, Rolli dials (RIP), Lello datewheels, Jakob casebacks, and so on. Strap sale threads were loaded with Micahs, Dirks, Simona, MPs, Adeeos (RIP) etc etc.
But now it seems overall, that M2M PAM sales are fewer. The really good oldskool modded builds are really rare to see in M2M. I used to see some awesome Pre-V builds - but now hardly see these come up for sale anymore. Which is fair, the owners should be holding on to them.
As far as gen Panerai goes, it seems that the 'large watch' look that Panerai epitomised may be on the decline to some extent. The launch of the snapback 30m models has also probably diluted the brand for hardcore Paneristi. Some of the newer PAMs seem more of dress watches aimed at the fashion cognoscenti, rather than the purpose-built tool watches that Panerai is known for.
