My recent short stint with invicta. The swiss models might be a different story, but I think the regular models are poorly made. On the pro diver I am showing in the first pic, I had to remove the cyclop because it was literally at a 15% angle and had bubbles in it. I promptly removed it. The gold on both watches is more of a bronze-ish color.

I dug through all my watch pics, and couldn't find any of the speedmaster. Guess that tells me how much I care about it.

Lol. I'm going to say what you probably won't then. Theaman, since you seem pretty set on invicta, I think you should take a sabbatical from here and buy a few invictas from amazon or somewhere. When you get tired of them and realize hunting for the perfect reps for you (modded or not) is 75% of the fun, then come back here.

Hate to say it but I totally disagree. I've had a few invictas and sold them quick fast. Felt super cheap and just not well made. Id rather have a nice high end rep than a cheap "copy" invicta. This is going to sound weird on a rep forum but they just steal designs and then slap their logo on it .... At least reps aren't claiming to have their own design (they slap other people's names on them haha).

My wife has one that she loves but the few I've had I hated.

If you go to Watchgeeks.net's sales page you'll see lots of "buyer's remorse" ShopNBC watches for sale...mostly at very high prices. Try watchuseek or PMWF for realistic prices. One year I only took Invicta divers on vacation to the Gulf; they worked fine. Didn't care if I lost them or they broke. Cheers, all...

Different strokes for different folks. I too have had my share of Invictas. Bought on a knee jerk watching ShopNBC....I will admit it....OK.

But, that 48mm MOP I posted is very cool, uncommon, not Rolex looking, not a wild ass mostrosity but a classy, cool, well done watch.

Its my ranch work beater....mud, water, cow shit....and still wont die.
Worth every dollar of the $86 I bought it for.

Some Invictas have ETA or Sellita Swiss movements..some have Miyota movments....just depends. The ETA is not a REPLICA movement man...its been a Swiss Made movement for 100's of Swiss brands including Omega, Breitling, Tissot, Tudor Bell & Ross and many many MANY more. For 30 years or more the Swiss ETA was THE SWISS MADE movement. The replica factories used to buy those swiss ETA movements by the truck loads back in the day when they were as common as a iPhone is today, and cheap. However, today ETA has all but yanked the emergency brake on the sale of their movemnts and the watch market as a whole is having to retool. Hence the rise of Swiss maker Sellita, who makes a dead nuts clone of the ETA product and is used just about everywhere today. The rise of the Chinese made automatics are gathering momentum as well...There is a lot more to this story than my long winded reply so READ, SEARCH and READ if you wanna be on top of it.

My experience with under $400 gens hasn't been a good one besides Seiko watches, and today it got worse. Had my 4th gen this year crap on me, a $300 Stuhrling that was babied like all my other watches. Yet none of my reps broke so far, some have dirty movements and some have spinning rotors or gummed gears but they still run and keep a good time. A rep seems to be as good or better as any similar priced generic gen. I have a 21J used as a guinea pig, seriously abused even had the hands glued on the pin with superglue, full of dirt and super glue fumes, had to kick it a few times to get it started but it's been working ever since. From now on I'll take a $300 rep over a $300 gen any day if the gen is not Seiko, Casio or Citizen. Can't beat having a sapphire crystal on a ceramic case with automatic chrono movement and an amazing design at under $300.
