Anyone know if the 104 has the same brushed case as the 164?

I bought one today. I had a gen 164 on RG I use the pic as my avatar. If you have love for the 164 its exciting. I can see why its not for everyone. But personally its one of my favorite pams. I think the price is awesome personally. $300 used to get you a watch that would take another $500 in mods to get to be a great watch. I snatched this sucker up. I'm guessing the High Quality Leather Band is going in the trash but who cares, I'll use the buckle and toss the rest!

Angus posted something on RG about these new releases cause he didn't know what to call em on his website. I remember him saying they were not great reps.

SHOWCASED WATCHES

Panerai 104N

This watch is truly stunning, with a huge amount of detail invested into its replication process. This watch is a super-rep and the best version out there.

The 104N has been 1:1 replicated (in terms of looks and quality) with all parts being the same structure as the genuine model. It also has colorless AR, crystal with correct Cyclops, correct date font, superlumed dial and hands, right angled CG and flush and polished cannon pinion.

This beauty will be available on the 22nd of May, but pre-ordering starts now, so get ordering fast!

Panerai 164N

The 164N boasts all of the same features when it comes to its replication process as the 104N and is the best version out there, in the world, of the 164N.

Again, this watch is available from the 22nd of May onwards, with pre-ordering starting now.

I think both are very nice, espically the 104 with updates.

The NF is churning out some really nice models, lets just hope they start doing some everyone can be happy with. To me the 104 and 164 are very similar and I think thats the reason why they decided to do these together.

Since all they needed to do was polish the case and cg and add numerals on the dial, it was easy to see why they made these two.

Im ready for the 360 and hopefully the daylight 356 and about another 15 models ;)

I'm torn as to whether or not I want to try to switch out my H factory 104 for this one. I'm sure that on balance the Noob factory is a better watch, but I really can't find any fault with the H factory one. And, my experience suggests that the H factory sources better AR'd xtals, so if that trend continues with these I will probably stick with my H 104.

Not a big fan due to the idiotic quick-release system. They can never get it right - same as wire-lugs on Rads - so no point even trying. Pass.

Im not anywhere near the expert as many on a site like this but have owned the gen 164 and own a good number of gen luxury watches still. I bought my 164 at the panerai boutique in ca. I'd never be able to tell by the pics and video this is a rep. Someone mentioned the font of the dial. I do not have my gen any longer to compare but it looks spot on. There is no flaw that pops out that this watch isn't 1:1 maybe after I get it I'll think different. The quick release I'll see myself but wouldn't stop me from buying actually my order is in and paid for already. Getting a gen alligator strap for this and am going to enjoy it for sure. If not I'll get vac to rework it or sell it but my guess is I won't be missing my gen anymore.

Nah, this one won't disappoint. The quick release has been a problem in previous reps, but if it craps out you can always just use spring bars. On the wrist I expect this thing will be indistinguishable from the real deal.

Agreed 45acp. I just don't see how that piece isn't worth the cash. Cheap? Not really but a few years back you'd put a ton of money I it to even get it to this degree. I've got mine on order and can't wait!

Yeah, I'm spoiled because I didn't get into reps until a year ago. All I've ever known is $200 pam super reps!

LOL, man of course it still happens but it was way more common to drop $500-$1000 modding a awesome rep. Of course many still do, but the qty of really good reps lately is helpful to the newbie community since it keeps the hobby at a affordable level. Prices have increased on the bottom side a bit, but the quality is so much better it has leveled off on the top end more.
Only for about 6 years have I gotten into modding reps I'd just wear them as is or till the break. Before that I never even knew of rep communities like these. I'd buy from street level, or sites found online. I've been wearing reps since I grew up in the 1970s. However I wear way more gen watches then reps. Due to this crappy economy now, I got the itch again to buy some of the high end stuff to keep my habit at bay! lol
This 164 is nice. I'm really excited. Its rare I get excited over PAMs. I like only a few, the 164/027/057 however are on top for me.

I'm not sure whether anybody noticed that on the PAM104N video the inside surface of the lugs (where the casing meets the strap) is not very well polished. This is quite common on NF PAMs with varying degree of severity but I reckon that the 164 will be better at this since it's brushed.

I was to busy slobbering over the 164 :) But that is a good observation on the 104N. Something to look for in QC pics if someones looking for a 104N

From what I can tell, Panerai has about 4 or 5 basic watches. Every other model is made like we used to "customize" Swatch watches in the 80s.
A different strap, swap the bezel, get a brushed cg instead of polished... and voila! You have a "totally different model".
Sorry, but they all look the same to me.
