This is awesome!

Question - how well was the watch lubed and what not? Did it look like it needed to be serviced after all of your work, or would it have been fine without?

I want this to live forever on my wrist

The movement was clean but try, except the keyless...there was a lot of grease.

This movement is both the biggest positive and the biggest negative for this watch for me... It's so beautiful and well engineered but there are also zero spares and also a question mark over reliability

I love the 5454 equally in every other way, and it's much more easily repairable with a guaranteed cheap source of movements and parts for the future but... that 5007 movement is amazing!

I just wish I knew how likely it was to break in a way a service couldn't fix and how long it might last!

Anyway, very nice work, looks amazing

Well my watch had a broken power reserve when I got it, my ws removed the broken part and fixed the marker at 7

The rest is an a2824 or a7750

Thanks for the info mate. Something like that I don't think would be the end of the world for me. Seems like a mix of poor assembly and broken parts.

Already realised I'm gonna have to get both so 545408 and 500701 both on my list now

Thank you Chris for a great write up. Much more confident about this movement having read your post.

This watch movement is the same as the7010 Red Star Automatic 70 hours. This nice caliber is from the chinese caliber manufactory Liaoning Peacock from Dangdong. This factory, located in the province of Liaoning (directly on the border with North Korea) has an excellent reputation and is producing mechanical calibers since 1958 - for example also Tourbillons, chronographs and skeleton watches - it is one of the most important manufacturers of high quality mechanical calibers of the People's Republic of China. The only way to get a spare is to buy 2 reps or one of these watches on poljot24 website.

There's no way to get a Liaoning 6601 form someone somewhere without having to buy a whole new watch? Someone must be selling them, no?
