The best thing for me on this subject is that I’ve been in this “game” about 3-4 years now (I know, I’m a total baby compared to y’all) and I almost only buy Pam’s.
Yet, I have zero idea which of my reps are closest to gen... it WAS important to me in the beginning. I definitely wanted to pass off a Panerai as real and claim some bragging rights, without actually paying for the real thing.
But at some point I forgot that part and now just have an incredible amount of fun exploring models, versions and history. Like the term “radiomir”. I only learned where it came from this year....
These days, certain details (non-sunken subdials, wrong colors etc) will make me ditch a watch, but whether or not it’s really accurate, I don’t know/care too much about.
My oldest rep, a noob 372, was pretty cheap. I think it looks very much like the gen, but I’ve never cared enough to actually compare two pictures. Too much effort and details for my poor little brain.
