Which version is that ? And from which dealer ?
I'll probably get a ceramic sub sometimes soon to keep company to my noobmariner... Might as well get one that's waterproof ;)

The divers I know usually wear something like a beat up Casio g-shock. When I'd wear a gen sub over a wetsuit people would ask if I was really going to wear it underwater. I joined the beater Casio club when the sub started getting knocked about and scratched. Anyway, I've gone down (so to speak) to 100 ft. (3atm) with my WBK Planet Ocean, Sub and Daytona, to see how they'd hold up. No fogging. Now they've passed that test I'm going back to my Casio

I've just recently become interested in watches and I've got to say I'm surprised to hear how many rec divers out there still wear a mechanical watch while scuba diving. I always wore a Suunto Mosquito as a backup for my console computer, and my main buddy wore a Suunto D-something with a nice TT bracelet in and out of the water. I think my first dive instructor is the only guy I know who wore a non-computer watch (G-shock). Maybe it's a cold-water thing (PacNW). We're a lot more geared up in general than tropical rec divers what with the drysuits and everything.

Although this might seem so there are dealers like Lay that Guarantees the waterproofing... not the same as the stated description on website. Also by greasing the gaskets and properly pressing the crystal will significantly up the water resistance of your watch.

So far all my watches brought to my watchsmith for service has passed 4ATM's.

Before any RWI members get too impressed with the water resistance of reps and jump in the pool with their rep I suggest they read this thread.

http://forum.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/water-resistance-testing-53952

Yes, some reps resist water but the failure rate seems to be above 50% meaning the odds more likely than not are that your rep won't resist water as well as those examples discussed in this thread.

I just had my noobmariner tested at the store. Tested in an ALC 2000 and passed 10 bar easily:D

PS I did put grease at the tube and casebackring.

Out of boredom I just put my DSSD from Lay into a sink full of water, didn't have any problems. :)

I'll take it swimming tonight.

I showered and dunked my $48 special noob factory sub into a sink full of water from times shop after greasing the caseback and tube with no problems, haven't had a chance to go swimming with it yet but it should be good.

Well, all was going swimmingly (lol!) until I decided to go a little deeper in the pool, so I swam from the surface down about 1.5m (it was the shallow end). Shortly after I noticed the watch had stopped. No water was visible was on the dial, so crystal sealing was fine. When I opened the watch it looked like water had come through the HEV hole, and also I think through the case-back, which didn't seem greased at all.

This was a 21j DSSD from Replicamake/Lay. I think I've dried it out now and hopefully no permanent damage, but not exactly confidence-inspiring!

should try and grease it yourself and see how it goes, i am a complete noob and did my noob sub by myself and felt a great sense of accomplishment from just greasing it up haha

Yeah, greasing is easy enough but taking the movement out so I can epoxy the HE valve will be annoying.

Also, the thread is supposed be about swimming with a rep out of the box, so on this count it's a definite fail.

Good news is the watch seems to be working just fine now.

My 42mm PO from Lay has survived 2 1.25m-pool trips.

And it looks lovely in the water!

SEAmaster indeed!

Bell & Ross BR03-92 SS June 2012

3. The activity with water:
Landscaping with constant rinsing of hands and arms with hose, Dishwashing, showering, hot tub. All out of the box.

I cheated a little, since I took it for a vacuum test from a watch repair place first and it passed, so I wasn't really that brave. ;)
