How to tell a recessed pin?

it's not the hands being to close or too far from the dial. the dial is thick so the cannon pin doesn't stick through the dial far enough. when they install the hands they can't fit the pin flush with the top of the minute hand because the pin is too short. the fix is to install a longer cannon pin.

hope this helps,

hk

Not always.... sometimes, it's just the tubes on the minute hand is too long and it needs to be shortened... a lot of tall canon pin watches out there that just need the tube shortened to be good to go... case in point, the 111F kit I have for sale... it shows a recessed canon pin but in actuality, the minute hand tube is too long....

i can see from the 11f kit that the minute hands are resting high above the dial... yet you say that is it doesnt need a canon fix..... confused. seriously i must be slow.

if you shaved the hands then it would sit flush.... it's not always the canon pin, it can sometimes be the hands that make it look like a recessed canon pin

None of them NEED a canon pin fix. You've already got it coming so when you get it post some pics.

That's a matter of opinion, Fakes. I would argue that it *does* need a canon pin fix. I would say no watch NEEDS aftermarket double AR, but I'm sure some of the Breitling and IWC guys would disagree.

The point i was making was he got this done because someone told him he needed it. No one on the street would spot it. It's a preference thing. He didn't even know what it was and would have lived happily ever after. Now he's all stressed out.

Should you buy a rep Panerai that needs a canon pin fix, you should probably get it done, otherwise, others might think,
that you are worthless and weak. :D

my advice....always get the package, fixed pin and superlume, sapphire crystal.

its worth it.

dont worry how high hands are from the dial.....a flush pin is way more important for close to gen looks.

keep asking until you understood everything.

who asks may appear to be a fool for a minute.......the one not asking will be a fool.....all his life.

I really have to admit that I always pay extra for upgrades or go to Davidsen. I have no idea what i'm doing, I just want the best. Like Hambone said, i was feeling the obvious fear(s) of not having the best or the PAM-POLICE stopping me on the street and exposing me to the world.

Hi Guys,
I'm just wondering whether DSN reps need a recessed pin fix? Do they need this mod?
Cheers

no, they don't need anything but the hard core mods. for most they are good enough out of the box.

What are the "hardcore" mods that one can get? I thought the superlum, canon pin fix, and sapphire were the only mods to make a panny "hardcore" or "ultimate"...

thanks

hehe....

there are a lot more mods.... I am wearing a 063 today (eta 2893-2 movement, so no canon pin issues) with ziggy lume, watchman cyclops, lello datewheel, gen auto crown, gen crown guard, etc... lots of mods...

For the 111/177/112/176 group..... you still have the AR on it, the crown guard itself(DSN's CG is awful IMHO), crown lever mod, dial mod (re-painting the A's), crown swap, washing the dial to get the right color, dial change... gen screws and tubes...and the list goes on...

Take this 001B
IMG_2900.jpg

It has the canon pin fixed, DSN hands, Ziggy lume, crown lever mod, Angus Ultimate CG, Palp 2.0 crown, correct caseback, rare 001B painted dial, upgraded screws... sapphire switched to a DSN sapphire... sapphire has had the AR removed completely
