Reading this with anticipation....

As an aside can't believe panerai don't keep a huge inventory of parts!

::SIGH:: :frusty: :frusty:
goddammit.... adding another chapter to missing CG saga....

Received the JacksonTSE one just now (Model MM87), and although it's brushed and looks great (have NOT test-fitted yet!!!) -- a very important detail is lacking, that upsets me greatly. The 312-style Pam's (AND MilitaryTime's MM87) - have "Reg T.M." engraved onto top of CG....

This does not say "Reg TM"... Maybe they sent the wrong one, who knows. I think like Pam111 style?? I have emailed to ask.
How much should this detail bother me? I am quite a perfectionist.... Should I use this CG or attempt to find the RIGHT one....?

EDIT: **** And I just test fit the CG, the screw holes don't line up. The "bases" if you will (two parts - what the screw threads through, the parts that attach the case and surround the crown - are cut wrong. They are too large and don't fit into the small engraved slots for CG on case.) Also, the lever doesn't allow CG to even sit flush either. This CG completely WILL NOT work.... ****

Already have done, thanks....
The watch head is now posted in our lovely ForSale section, with no price - accepting offers!! It will be out of my life soon enough, even if I give it away.

EDIT: SOLD!!!

PLEASE PLEASE, New Panerai owners:
Tighten your CG immediately before wearing!!

Otherwise you will NOT, I repeat, WILL NOT be able to source a new one!
TD told me my only option was to buy a $160 case to transfer the guard over.
With the $300 watch, $160 new case, plus approx $450 I planned to spend in mods (waterproof, movement service, re-lume, AR crystal) - that was just wayyy more than I wanted to spend on any Pam and not worth it to me....

So if you don't want a $160 bill, tighten your CG periodically!
I don't EVER forsee myself buying another Pam, and have always been very turned off by a hand-wind movement. Best to you all though.

My h factory pam164n arrived without a rollerball. CG lever was there but just a gap where the rollerball should be. I sent the dealer a pic or two and in two weeks I had a brand new lever with rollerball which I installed in 5 minutes. So parts are available I guess it depends on the dealer and the factory.

Good for you, it may be dependent upon Pam model.
I tried ALL TDs, Ebay, ALL modders here, searching online quite a bit....
Needless to say, it completely soured my experience on not only rep Panerai's, but even the real brand. I wouldn't buy a Gen Pam (even with warranty) based on this experience.
I am turned off from the brand. Kinda like a restaurant experience (bad food & rude, terrible service). Not going back, even with a gift certificate!
Sorry I'm just that guy I guess....

That one was PT, but I contacted (and have done business in past with) - Toro, Hont, JacksonTSE, modders Goin, Wiz, plus countless others, posted "Wanted" ads on this board & repgeek, etc

WOW Puretime usually is very good with things like this. Im surprised he did not come through for you. I know the rep game well and it is what it is...can be really rewarding and also frustrating as all hell. Would think something like this could be sorted out since quite obviously your a unhappy customer and unhappy customers don't breed more sales for the dealer.

Very good points Perry.
Yeah I was surprised PT couldn't source me one - mainly because I know they're the largest dealer (and therefore have the best relationship with the factory.) I would think if they couldn't get it, no one could.
I received one in mail from JacksonTSE/MilitaryTime, for a 44mm case - and it is just EVER SO SLIGHTLY off - the screw holes don't line up, etc (Read my post about it on the previous page.) That's what is frustrating - all my wasted time searching & waiting, for something I still can not use.
I do also realize with my extreme lack of patience that Rep watches are prob not the best hobby for me, as ALE indicated to me earlier.... It is what it is though

Truthfully, I'm not really mad or upset with PT. It seems they did what they could, and tried. They told me factory will NOT provide them the crown guard itself, otherwise they would be happy to send me one. I do give them credit for that!! We exchanged many emails back & forth. They also sent me CG screws for free. That's who told me that case itself cost $160.
Honestly, my problem lies with the Rep Pam's. I wanted to try them (this was my first one) - but the lack of availability of parts, to the factory's largest dealer - soured me. As I stated, I sold the watch.
And I will still do business with PT as they've always treated me good.

Again, I'm not blaming them, I'm more blaming the factory!!
Thanks for commenting bud!

I own many rep pams. The 312 does not come from a great factory. Its the same factory that produces the 359 and the 305.....not the greatest pam reps....cloudy highly reflective crystals and not the best fit and finish. I know you are soured right now but trust me you could buy a great Pam rep. If you want to give it another try go for one of the Noob factory pams. The hand wound types are more than likely more trouble free. Ive never had a CG arrive loose or fall off by the way so there is hope if you want to give Pam reps another try.

Actually the H factory also makes a good Pam although to me they are a hair away from being as good as the noob pams. I bought a h factory 240J and added a Malio asso strap to it. Just a stunning combination. Watch tells perfect time and has been totally trouble free. From the noob factory....the 026, 292j, 127, 217, 243, also the new noob 360 looks pretty good.

Perry,
Is the 312 made by H-Factory, Noob, or another third factory like Chanel or something?
Thanks for the info, something for me to consider about quality Pam reps!!

The 312, 359 and 305 come from ANOTHER factory. Not noob or H. I owned the 359 and sold it right away. Crystal was so cloudy and reflective it was like a mirror. If you want a Pam try the new noob 111 if you want the all steel look, Noob 164N for a classy combination of polished and brushed SS or the Noob 292J pig dial black ceramic. Buy from Puretime and ask Angus to personally QC the watch for you. I am sure he would after all the issues you had. Just be sure to remind him since he is involved with so many day to day issues. Just my 2 cents. I now have 10 pams...7 noob and 3 H factory and all are 100%. I will say that several arrived with issues.....My 187 date change would not work and it was replaced immediately. My 243 quick date change is sticky on a few dates but no buggy. All others arrived and still run perfectly.

UPdate yet again:
I want to order (and going to) - the Jackson one.
But, I have PMed him here and emailed him on his website asking him to get in touch with me.
Reason being is I don't want the damn thing snail air mailed from China.
I would much rather pay $35-$50 more for Priority International....

Secondly, for heck of it I called a Panerai Distributor. I informed them of the problem, said I was out of warranty, and asked what I needed to do in order to get new crown guard. I was very specific about what I needed, telling them the exact prob and what was missing.

They said there is no way around it - the watch needed to be shipped to a Long Island facility where THEY will tell ME exactly what I need - like I don't already know....!?!?
They would then check on availability of parts, provide cost estimate, and if parts could not be sourced, attempt to get from Italy directly. If parts are not available from Italy, the watch is essentially useless.... So all that waiting & shipping, no guarantee on it being able to be fixed/replaced, and not without seeing the watch first....!!!

:frusty: .............. :lolcina: ................ :asshat:

lol a little humor for the situation

Quite logical really.
This is to prevent gen parts from being used for non-gen purposes... Such as yours!
Of course there are ways around but most watch companies will not just send parts out, they will ask you to send your watch in then they'll fix it.
