Help with Panerai Authentication

Hi everyone,

I found a local seller for a naked Panerai. Not sure of the model, but here are some photos of I acquired.
I was wondering if the experts here could enlighten me on if there are obvious signs this is a replica and if there are please share what they are so I can be educated.

Also can anyone tell which model this is?

The seller is willing to meet at my watchmaker to authenticate, but I thought I would check here first before I dedicate the time and effort to meet up.

It might be the pics quality but the movement finish looks bad

If the seller is willing to auth, maybe he does believe it's gen without malice

Same here, if sellee willing to auth he probably has no idea. Any watchmaker will know its a rep. Asian clone movement, recessed pinion, etc

Thanks to everyone for the quick replies and advice. Yes, I passed on the Panerai without meeting the seller. It has been an educational exercise though and I hope to learn more from the community. Have a great weekend!

Judging by how clueless 98% of users on gen fora are about the watches they own, it's well possible that there are currently tens of thousands (if not even signicantly more) high-end rep owners out there who paid gen prices for their CF, VSF, ORF, ZF etc. rep without realizing what they really bought.

It is a very bad fake. Their are versions that are a lot better ootb. This one has all the tell tales sign.. lol. And to have it offered to be checked by a watchmaker, will take a second and it will be handed back.

One of the things that pushed me into reps was the realization that getting ripped off was almost certain, sooner or later, since the best gens are just so close.

So now I buy reps of newer models, and only buy vintage gens from the time when reps were obvious.

They probably would politely hand it back to you and decline to address it further. this one with the display caseback is an obvious tell. also, basic information like the serial number is invalid.
