Have I been scammed or am I reading too far into this?

IMPORTANT: I am not trying to ruin Steve’s reputation just want to make sure.

Hi all, had been in talks with who I assume to be Steve for 2 weeks and just yesterday sent $320 for my watch. I had already sent $50 for a deposit QC last week and everything went well. But today got a message that seemed a little fishy. I doubled checked he had received the payment and all I got in the return was “thanks a lot”.

Now I don’t want to call this is a scam straight away and potentially ruin Steve’s reputation but it’s not sitting right with me. I may just be paranoid about being scammed.



Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't ordered from Steve before but the response doesn't seem out of line for a non native English response.

I know it sounds stupid but I am a first time buyer and I have been scammed in other things before and all I got was a thank you from the scammer.
May have let the nerves get the best of me but the initial message just shook me a bit.
I was typing of a ‘Payment has been received, processing now’ kind of response to be honest.

I'm not quite sure you understand what a Trusted Dealer is. You should do some reading so you're not suffering anxiety issues while waiting for your replica watch.

I think long day at work had me worrying too much. I do know what a TD is, i was thinking it was an error on my part not Steve scamming me, if that makes sense.

That's Steve's number mate so don't worry. TDs can be short on words from time to time. Now just relax and wait for your watch and once you get it post some pictures so we can all enjoy it.

1. Check if that’s the right WhatsApp number
2. Pretty standard response I get from every TD I made a purchase with
3. Most don’t even respond if you ask for updates
4. Update comes with QC.

General response is I’ve read way to deep into it so I’m going to assume it’s all good

As someone who has been scammed on a watch deal in the past, I get it. I do not have as much experience as many on this board, but I've found that things tend to work out if:
- Go through a TD
- Triple check you are actually contacting said TD
- Be far more patient than you are with your family, friends, etc.
- Expect hiccups along the way
- Be patient
- Don't remove the plastic as soon as you get it

You should be good as long as you used the correct channels of the dealer as advertised and regularly updated on here.
