Cybee, It's Rocketeer.

TBH here I have had situations/purchases in this hobby where I have felt ignored. (Rocketeer is not one of them, I have never dealt with him.) I have learned that it's best to find a dealer/modder who cares about you and wants the business.

Thanks R2...This is just one reason I have turned down PM's for simple watch repairs. You either need to treat it like a business and put your customers first or not do it at all. There is no half-way and there are too many headaches involved when things go amiss.

Hope it all gets worked out.

I agree with you cybee, that is why if now I want to mod or repair my watches I will buy the equipment to do it myself... It puts alot of fun in the hobbiy this way...

I hope nobody minds me chiming in here because I know the Mods are involved, but I have ordered a Franken UPO from Rocketeer and I paid for the watch in full when I placed my order.

I have had a couple of Emails from him listing it's progress. He went quiet for a while and didn't respond to my emails so, as he stated in his email, I rang him.

I have been patient with him and satisfied with all of his answers (incidentally I paid him on the 3rd of March).

Should I pass on his phone number to Mr.Majestik?

Hope I can be of help.

Guys, I was in the same situation. I sent 3 watches in Jan to Rocket and got 2 back yesterday. I have contacted Rocket about this thread and MrMajestic has his phone number.

This is the same old story. These guys do a great job when they don't have many customers. As soon as they become popular, they have no time to finish the job.

I am positive that it work out fine. Please contact me via PM if you have any questions.

Hey smithy37,
thanks for your input....as a hobby we all share (incidently, this would be my 2nd ever REP, last one I bought & sold over 4 years ago) I was looking forward so much to getting this watch!
The pics I was sent looked great except the dial, as I stated, so 90% finished & then quiet, even an update e-mail to advise that the part's coming or an ETA would be enough for me.
It's especially hard when I'm in Oz, 1/2 way around the world.

No contact is unacceptable.
I do realize that it's a case of too much work & not enough time to do things properly, but you'd think that because we began the project in the first week of January that I'd have some kind of "priority" over new work...
Cheers all!
Watch this space.
PS thank you to guru & R2D4 for your help thus far

Mr Majestyk,

I am sure it will work out for you. Now Guru has spoken to him on your behalf I would expect a quick resolution (Thanks Guru!).
I know how frustrating it can be when your emails aren't answered that is why I mentioned ringing him. I did and everything seems fine, if a little busy.

The reason for my call to him was to make sure he didn't need any more money forwarding for the extra bits.

Keep us informed of your progress.

He tells me around 2 weeks for mine :D

Hi all..
Quick update....
I think everything will be resolved, had contact from him & think all will be OK.
Reckon his quality was & looks great & then just took on too much work & therefore quality & communication suffers.
See it happen all the time in the fashion industry, you source a great quality manufacturing contact & just overload them..
Anyhow, watch this space...(pun intended)
Thank you all for your advice & help, especially MODS guru & R2D4- I love this hobby!

All the pics were taken by Rocket & am uing them without his consent, I hope he doesn't mind, and if they are allowed (Mods) they are only a testament to his great work & photographic skills.

My really BAD wrist shot

Hi Guys,

I by no means condone a 3.5 month wait, (i'm sure if that were me I'd be chomping at the bit too). However I have dealt with Rocketeer on two occasions before and he has been nothing but 100% upfront and professional.

I do know that he's been trying to separate his legit bespoke watch making/ repair work from his rep operation, because some of his gen customers got a bit pissy when they found out he did rep work too.

He's also trying to automate his on-line portal (where you can login and see the status of your order etc), then there is the website he's having built, and add to that having to deal with with his 9 to 5 customers, you can see how it would be possible to let things slip. Plus all the issues of running a small business in the UK too, (tax season etc) ....

Again I'm not taking sides, but lets not hang him out to dry. He does some really good work and has been VERY VERY good to a lot of us rep collectors in the UK and Europe.

Hopefully he'll sort things out and he'll be back to his old sterling self.

Mmmhhh... I don't want to enter into this debate here, but he should just focus on his old business. He obviously can't do both at the same time, and Tuff Time seems to be too precious to him. So he should stick to that and leave this rep nonsense behind (particularly the Chief AR disaster), unless he's willing to hire a few more people and grow his business. Anyway, I've still got some stuff with him that I would like to get back soon (it's been about 4 months and counting - and we're talking a basic lume job!). I will post about all of that and the rest when things are done, in a separate thread.

Rooster,

I agree, he's got to try and make it work, and if he can't then he needs to make a decision. The only point I was trying to make was he's been good in the past.

Lets give him some credit.... no matter how small.
ps
will be interested to know about your experience, PM me if you're up for it

Hey guys...
re-read the whole post again, love all the points of view, by the way thanks to you LegendOfSpeed......(there's always someone you forget to thank, like the Oscars..  )
Aji: from the beginning I wanted to get members' opinions, never my intention to "Hang-him-out-to-dry", and was careful to word my concerns very carefully. Also tried to be as objective as possible.
roster133: Dude I hope you get your stuff back soon. I know you'll think it's worth it as I did.

You know guys & gals, no-one's perfect & s*** happens sometimes. Not here to tell anyone how to run their business, I just hope Rocket can match his customer service to his amazing work.

Mr Majestik, I am so glad you got your watch. It is truly fantastic and I am so jealous.
I am glad it all got sorted.

With reference to the whole Rocket thing, he has been totally professional with the way he has dealt with me. We lost email contact a while back so I rang him. Since then it has been my preferred means of contact with him. I am just about to enter month 3 (this is from payment of the watch up front, not from date of order) so I am prepared to sit tight and wait.

The biggest shame is I have another watch and my friends have watches that just need a basic service and I cannot bare to be without my watch for 4 months! Hence the other thread I started asking for more UK based watchmiths. I do not want to take work away from Rocket, but what am I supposed to do?

The quicker I learn to strip and repair myself, the better!

smithy...maybe there's a change of career path for you :p
I feel you mate, at least you're in regular contact with him. I hope you're able to source a good watchsmith close to you, I have a friend who owns a business dealing in 2nd hand Gen watches & would not HESITATE in recommending him...so next time you're in Australia.......
Good luck mate!
